I had a great upper body workout this morning. It is nice that I am starting to see good results. My lifting weights are increasing. I am also starting to increase in muscle size and definition.
I need to increase the regularity of my cardio workouts. I have been a slacker in this area.
I have always been skinny and have had a problem gaining weight…which means I have never paid attention to what I eat. I just eat everything. Being skinny does not mean you are eating healthy. I need to watch what I eat to cut out the fats, processed sugars, cholesteral, etc.
Thanks to all those dedicated people on this site. You all give me determination and motivation to improve.

Time has gone by fast and I have not written an entry for a long time. My workouts are progressing steadily. This afternoon I took a long lunch and had a great upper body workout.
Thanksgiving came and went. I need to weight myself to see if I have reached my weight goal.
Also now that I am progressing again I need to begin to keep my lifting stats again and keep them updated.
I still find motivation from the great people on this site that have seen marvelous results. Thank you.

I worked my upper body again yesterday. My workout felt great. I was able to push myself on each lift that I performed.
Last week I started using a high carb and protein shake once a day to help regain the mass that I lost. They are thick and taste OK.
Only time will tell how fast I am able to put on weight. I know that I will be able to reach my goal of adding 20 pounds by Thanksgiving.

Today was my first day back to the gym after my surgery 4 weeks ago. Getting your tonsils removed not only leaves you immobilized for 2+ weeks, you are not able to eat for that amount of time as well.
My workout was super frustrating. I lifted 20+ pounds lower on each machine or lift I performed and not as many reps.
I just started lifting again in late July and by the end of August had made great progress and all my lifting stats had increased and I had a good rythmn and was seeing results.
Now I am further behind than when I started in late July…very frustrating. I have alot of self motivation but this time I am trying to find some reward to give myself once I reach my weight gain goals and lifting goals.
Something big exciting and worth 2 months of intense dedication. Any advice or suggestions….send me a message please.
I have no doubts I will be able to regain and rebuild the muscle mass I lost…but that does not make it less frustrating to have to start all over again. It will make my achievment that much more meaningful.

Three weeks ago I got my tonsils removed. This type of surgery usually happens when you are a kid not 35 years old. I had no complications from surgery but the recovery process has been painfull and long.
I couldn’t eat solid food for more than 2 weeks. I lost nearly 15 pounds of both fat and muscle. Not good for a skinny guy on a mission to gain muscle mass.
I should be able to start going to the gym again this week. It is frustrating to have such a set back and have to rebuild all over again.
I guess this will make the rewards of the next month that much more meaningful and my determination that much stronger to see the results I want.

About a week ago I started using free weights instead of the machines. The free weights seem to work my muscles better and I have seen results faster using free weights than with the machines.
I wish I had been using free weights a long time ago. I still have a ways to go to regain what I lost over the past several months, but I am on the right track.
The two areas of my body that I am currrently focusing on are my abs and my chest.
I have started enjoying the gym and working out so much that I wish I could spend more time there. There is just something wonderful about challenging yourself and reaching out for the goals you set.

I decided to start keeping a exercise and lifting journal so that I can track my progress. Since I have joined this site two weeks ago I have been consistently working out both my upper body and lower body.
Yesterday I worked my upper body. I mostly use weight machines for my lifting.

Today I woke up early and headed to the gym while my family was still asleep. I worked on my abs, triceps, chest, biceps. I also did a few excercises for my legs.
I committed today to stop drinking soda pop. I became addicted to Dr Pepper (caffeine) over the past few years. Now he is sleeping and 2 Dr Peppers a day just is not good for you.
I really want to do everything possible to have six pack abs. Getting rid of soda pop is an important part of that.
I also need to increase my aerobic exercises on my off lifting days. I need to burn those extra calories that cover my abs.
If anyone has any advice on building abs and removing the layers that cover them please share with me. Thanks,
Jeremy

I recently decided to recommit myself to transforming my body. That is, I committed to taking my lifting to the next level! I have 4 young children, all boys. Ages 10, 7, 2, and 4 months.
It is my two yougest that make it hard to regularly go to the gym. Our youngest is now sleeping through the night and now I can dedicate more time at the gym.
I set goals to add mass and muscle definition. I also want to dedicate time on my abs. I am not sure if it is the idea of have six-pack abs that is appealing to me or just the challenge of making it happen that drives me.
I like the idea of this site that allows me to track my progress, both in written and photo format.
Yesterday at the gym I worked on my upper body including my abs. I focused on my chest and abs with two exercises for each of those areas and one for my triceps and biceps.
I am taking a protein suppliment shake each day and sometimes twice a day.
Today I did not go to the gym. I was up at 2 am for a while with one of my boys and barely woke up in time to go to work.
That is the hard part. Being consistent while living life with children, wife, and work.
I have committed to being more consistent and have to be willing to make the sacrifices necessary to succeed.
