I should have walked away…..
Tuesday, January 30th, 2007or at least requested another "membership consultant." So I finally went with a large chain in the Orlando area but the part I’m kinda ticked about is giving credit to the chump that "sold" it to me. I already walked into the place 98% sure I was joining but towards the end of the "sale" if it had not been for all the amenities, I would have been around 45%. Hell I would have walked out if my friend who I was a member wasn’t already working out.
The entire pitch….because that’s what it was…..I kept thinking he was a cheesy car sales man. What was really iritating was how he kept trying hard to make it look like he was personable with a bunch of the people working out there, especailly when they were working on a machine. I come from the school of "leave me the hell alone" when I’m working out if we’re not working out together, especailly if I have a headset on.
I joined anyways, I just wish that the "sale" had gone to someone a little more genuine who realized that they didn’t have to "sale me."
That’s the minus side of joining a chain of gyms, a little more impersonable. The big points are later hours and weekends, 10 times as much equipment, wet and dry saunas and a salt water pool. So sometimes you have to take the bad with the good.
That’s my take and in the end, the place is what you make of it.
Have a good one,
Ben
