Dietribe
Have any of yall heard of this show? At first I was like I love this show.. what a good idea of having friends get together and lose weight together.. now I am feeling like hmmmm …..not so much
Last night’s episode really bothered me.. before I go any further let me explain the show.. 5 friends want to lose 30lbs before another friends wedding.. they are all different sizes too and they want to do this in 90 days. Well first I kind of wish they would base it on percentage because one chick is 292 and another is 210… so maybe they should of said we want to lose 10% of our weight in 90 days.. but whatever that’s just my opinion.
That is not my main issue with the show.. last night all of the girls were craving bread.. snacks.. but they could not have them and all I could think about was that is why they won’t be successful 1 year down the way because of the whole diet mentality! I started looking at myself and realized I was the same as those girls and look at how many years I have been battling my weight… this is the first time I am truly looking at this as a lifestyle… if I was those girls I would of had the cheat meal and woke up the next morning kicking ass in the gym! This would eliminate my worrying about food and feeling guilty if I ate something bad! So this year folks please take those cheat meals if you really want something.. not everyday we all know when you really want something please eat it!!! I think if you let it sit on your mind that is worse than having the extra 500 calories on one day that you will be able to burn off and keep off instead of saying I am on a "diet" then months later getting of the "diet" and eating an extra 500 cals everyday and having to start back over plus 20lbs!
Well hope everyone is having a happy tues.. I am

I am trying to have that attitude as well. I think you beat yourself up too much if you try to stick to a very difficult diet and then fail. Michael Jordan didn’t make every jump shot he took yet he was still successful.
I am an all or nothing guy and that is my weakness. I have it in my head that if I mess up or cheat one to early in the week, then it is all blown and think, ‘well, might as well wait until next week’.

hey there, i tivo’ed this a few days ago. i like the concept, but the show….not so much. i have a very short attention span and thought it was really boring. i fast forwarded thru most of it.
i agree with you on the cheat meals. even though the goal is to be fit and follow your diet/lifestyle plan, sometimes once you give in to the cheat you’re craving, you find that it’s not as great as you imagined. and that’s one of the things that helps you jump back on the bandwagon, re-focus, and not fall off so easily again.

You’re right. The "lose 30 pounds no matter what your weight is" goal seemed really odd.
I think you’re absolutely right over the cheat meals. The way those girls were agonizing over their favorite (crappy) foods they missed seemed like a recipe for disaster for me. If you don’t feel like you’re depriving yourself of anything isn’t success going to be that much easier? My weakness is pizza and I have it for a cheat every weekend. No guilt, no cravings, no problem.

I agree with you totally! Unless you are getting ready to go on stage in 13 weeks, then the changes should be changes you are going to stick with for the rest of your life.

Thanks for the reminder that everything should be done in moderation…denying urself is the cure all…but exercising, and eating right the majority of the time is!
