Eating Out
Hello All,
My wife and other family members like to eat out a lot. They also like to eat bad foods. I, on the other hand, am trying to eat better and don’t need that kind of temptation. When we go out to eat, I have been trying to look at the menu for something that is healthy. Most of the time, I am successful and find something that isn’t to unhealthy. Does anyone have any comments about what they do when they are confronted with this situation, or eating out in general?

I don’t know, I fold like a house of cards. We are exactly in the same situation. If ya find something that works…let me know!!! I’ve been fighting this problem for a couple years now. Some days are better than others, some are not. Just take it one day at a time and if ya slip, don’t beat yourself up to bad. You only live once and a couple weeks from then, will you even remember it? Will it have even made a diff.? Can’t be perfect all the time. But I finally had to sit down and have a seriouse talk w/ the wife. It partially worked. It’s a little better. Just one day at a time man. Just one day at a time. Baby steps!

Eating out isn’t always a bad thing. While even with healthier choices, you can’t always gurantee how they cook the food. But I think getting out of the house and forgetting about work, bills, etc. for awhile is good for you.
My only suggestion would be for you to look around and learn some new recipes. There’s plenty out there that are healthy, but tastes good. Maybe your family will like them enough that they’ll want you to cook instead of eating out sometimes.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate the suggestions. Well, tonight we went out to a Mexican restaurant after we picked my mother-in-law up from the airport. However, I was able to find something I felt was a healthy choice. I ordered salmon with rice and black beans. It was a little costly, but I got the green light from my wife to order it. It blew my mind, but it was a good meal.

It really sucks but you’ve just got to suck it up and order differently than everyone else. I keep myself sane with cheat meals on the weekend (with no guilt attached).
