Some Food For Thought….
Thursday, March 26th, 2009I would like to talk a little bit about supplements and food. It seems as if everyone get’s caught up on supplements so much that it drives them crazy. It doesn’t have to be that hard. I constantly see quotes like "I’m starting a cycle of (blank) this week so I hope I can see (blank) results." Give yourself a little more credit. Don’t attribute your success to supplements, but realize that you are going to, or have seen success from your hard work, dedication and will power. I also like to use the 95/5 rule, 95% being nutrition from food, and 5% being that extra boost that supplements give you. I am a big advocate of very basic supplements, such as protein shakes for convenient meals, Glutamine, BCAA’s, Creatine and Healthy Fats. Anything more than that, in my opinion, is costing you more money than you need to be spending. I fell into many traps before….company’s claiming outlandish results when in fact you should know that it’s virtually impossible to see these astronomical gains (cough cough MuscleTech). I can honestly say I’m seeing 200% better results now taking basic supplements, than when I was falling into marketing traps. In summary, do work in the gym and eat right, then supplement that last 5% and give YOURSELF a pat on the back for seeing results, NOT a jug full of powder or pills.
