No Snow in Dominican Republic!

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

OK, well it seems there’s not too much damage to control from last week’s jaunt in Spain.  Come to think of it, I ate mostly protein really.  But because I had no gym access (and was stuck in meetings), I actually lost abit of mass.  Just a bit.  But enough to surprise me.  It sure happened fast.  Guess you gotta always stay on top of it.

Now I’m off to the beach in Dominican Replubic.  Hopefully, I won’t be set back further upon my return.  I know there’s a half-decent gym there. At least there was last year. Plenty of free weights - that’s the main thing.  I’ll be running along the beach too.  Running in sand is always gruelling but a great work-out.  I’ll do all this first thing in the morning, then will spend my days lounging and reading.  I don’t think we’re bringing a computer.  Best to stay off line.  It is supposed to be a vacation after all!

As for the diet, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.  Lots of fish and chicken and eggs.  To be honest, the food in those resorts is never "to die for".  So it won’t be too hard to resist.  And, yes, well, uhm, I’ll be drinking abit. I’ll count drinks as carbs!  :-)

Let’s see if I can keep my title as darts champ this year!  Yippee!  Adios amigos!

No snow in Madrid!

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

I’m in Madrid. It’s a beautiful city.  I have walked hundreds of miles in high heels cause my luggage got lost!.  So I’m getting lots of cardio and working those calves!  I’ve seen alot and then had to work alot. But today I’m off and will go check out some art at the gallery and maybe visit the Royal Palace.

I’ve been eating quite abit of jamon, which is very typical of Spain. It’s a cured ham, like Proscuitto (but that’s Italian). They have many different kinds and varying qualities (like wine).  But I’ve also been eating alot of salmon and hard boiled eggs. I’m definitely off the diet this week (or for the past 4 days).  It’s unfortunate but it would be rude not to partake particularly when our hosts have gone through so much trouble to welcome us.  The coffee is delicious.

I’ll be in damage control when I get back.  Also, when I finally got my luggage back, I found my running shoes had been stolen.  So I’m not getting any gym time in.  Maybe tonight I will do some weights in my flip flops. Not the greatest, but better than nothing.

work work work

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Ughh today was a looong day! I didn’t stop from 8 a.m.  Got home 12 hours later.  But I did eat 3 times at my desk in front of my PC (multi-tasking!). Spent the weekend reading reading and reading piles of complex docs. Really interesting, but leaves little time for work-outs. The day job always gets in the way! haha! I could not work-out today. I got home and ate more chicken and spinach.  I gotta say, I’m never hungry on this diet.  I love it.  Anyway, desperately trying to get to the gym before Thursday’s trip. Spain. Looking forward to lots of fresh grilled fish.

We’re expecting more snow overnight so I think I will get up extra early tomorrow and work-out at home before work. I’ll jump on the bike (it’s my actual bike mounted on a stationary unit - so it’s great).  Then I’ll do back/glutes and chest.  Yep -sounds like a fine reason to hit the sack… now!

good night

‘09 off to a good start!

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Alrighty, I’m officially on post-Xmas detox! haha  I had a great holiday - nothing too wild. But I certainly was off the diet.  But that is a good thing.  I believe in eating clean all the time, but not constant dieting.  You have to balance things out and enjoy life. In fact, now, as of Sunday afternoon, I have been hard core dieting and very much enjoying it!  I am happy to not be eating too much food and happy to not be drinking wine!  Only 3 days into it, and I feel way better already and I am ready for a very very busy January.  I’ll be travelling to Europe and then down south, so I need to be healthy and strong.

I am going to do my best to watch what I eat and try to hit the gym at the hotel.  2009 competition is 14 weeks away, so no need to panic just yet.  Actually I need to bulk up abit and probably should not be dieting just yet. But I’d like to look good for the beach at the end of the month.  Is there anything trickier than trying to gain weight and lean out at the same time?!  I’ve received some good advice from a few people here on bb.com.  It’s a great community.  I’ve learned alot from many of you.  The encouragement and support we all give each other is priceless!

Cheers!
