Can I Lose the Cardio??
Cardio is seriously messing me UP! GRRRR!! For cardio my choices are treadmill, elliptical, bodyweight circuits or kickboxing videos. If I try to increase my speed on the treadmill, my hip/back goes out, same goes for elliptical. Kickboxing videos obviously aren’t all that great for my back due to the kicking, so that leaves me with BW circuits. I don’t seem to have any problems with lifting weights, so I would think the circuits are my best bet, but I just don’t feel like I am getting the same effect with them as I do running intervals on the treadmill.
Anyways…so I was just wondering if I lifted weights 4-5x per week instead of cardio, if I could get the same results? Hm….something to think about and I guess maybe even give a try. If I did do the weights that many times, I would obviously do 3 heavy days and then the others light days.
No workout today, as my back and hip are hurting, plus I had a client this morning, so didn’t really have time. Amazing how tired I am when I don’t workout in the morning…even more incentive to keep working out!
Yesterday had high carb day, and today is low carb and cals….

I think you can it worked for me … you just have to kind of do fulll body workouts … and put in a few sets of power lifts … and it will shoot up you metabalism… I did it in iraq … i had to cardio …. and look what i made… i mean its not the best but al i had was a bench or so a couple of weights and a pullupbar.

Personally, I think cardio is more of a last step to lose bodyfat for a contest. I personally lost 3-4 sizes doing nothing but weight training. You can do weights as a circuit to increase your heart rate. I typically do abs as a circuit at the end of my workouts. Point: I think it’s ok to lose the cardio and lift 4 to 5x a week. Try it, and see how it works for you!

I agree with the others, increase the intensity but cutting the rest period down in between sets as well. Think compound rather than isolation moves and you will do better..however, you cannot do 5x a week..you can do 2 days on, rest, 2 days on, rest etc…not 3 days on and then rest.
Your CNS will not like you very much if you do!
