I need some advice! There are so many different articles about fitness that it is insane. On top of that they contradict one another. So how is a girl supposed to know what’s right for her? I just read an article in Oxygen magazine that says if you have legs that are bigger around than 20" than you should do light weight and do more cardio to lean out. I measured mine and they are 23.5". A half an inch bigger than they were a few months ago!!!! Ughhh, I am so confused. My upper body is not responding as well as I had hoped for and my lower body is overresponding. Should I lean out or keep bulking to get more muscle in my upper body? How do I even things out? Any help would be awesome!

Just got back from vacation to South Dakota and look like a tub of lard! Mmmm, homemade fudge, taffy and buffalo burgers. Cannot wait to get back into the gym today. Started my diet again today also. Will try to post some pics in about a week or two!

So last week I was at the gym and was stretching and felt a pop and then a burning sensation. I have been having stomach aches for quite a while but just blew it off and never thought it could be a hernia. Anyway, so I tried to bend back and get it to go back in but it didn’t for about 10 mintes. Needless to say it hurt like a bit*h and freaked me out! I went to the doctor yesterday and she said I do have an incisional hernia. It was from having my gallbladder taken out 4 years ago. I have had it for a long time and had no idea. The reason for this post is because I have a question. I have been on a bulking diet for about a month and a half now and I will be out of the gym for about 2 months. What kind of diet should I be on now? I can’t keep bulking and not working out but I am afraid that if I tighten my diet to much that I will lose the muscle that I have put on from bulking. What do I do in this situation?

If you don’t like the way I look and having nothing constructive to say than keep your comments to yourself especially if you are to much of a coward to even post a pic. The point of this site is to help and encourage people to be better not to be hurtful and demeaning. To everyone that has helped me, thank you so much. It has helped a ton!

I saw my trainer on Tuesday and I told her I haven’t seen much progress lately and she said I need more carbs. I am very confused about this. I have been training for about a year and feel like I have had good results but they certainly have not met my expectations. I thought by now I would look more ripped. I know I am 5′9" and am lanky and it will take longer but WTF?! Today I feel like giving up and being just plain skinny. That’s at least easy for me. On top of that I went shopping and I feel like I look huge. Some days I just feel that way. I think it’s partially because of the up in carbs. I guess I am just rambling at this point but I just don’t even know what my goals are anymore. If anyone has any suggestions on diet please help. I know I need carbs to gain muscle but I don’t want to look chubby for summer.

So for about the last month and a half I have been doing pretty darn good with my diet. I have been averaging a cheat meal about once per week. Beginning tomorrow I will only have a cheat meal about once a month. It will be tough but I am going to do my best.
I began seeing my trainer again a couple weeks ago. She is a great trainer but I feel like I am not really learning anything new. I guess what I was doing was right and I just need to keep on being consistent. I am the type of person that no matter how hard I work it’s never enough. I guess it’s a good and bad thing.

Tomorrow I begin training training with my trainer again. I am very excited! September 27 is my competition so that gives me about 6 months with her. She is on my @$$ already about getting all my stats, goals, ordering a suit, etc. That push will help me. Progress pics will be coming soon!

Well just wanted to give an update on my progress. I have been working out 5 days a week, cycling my carbs and doing cardio 4-5 times per week and it has been doing wonders. I do admit that I feel exhausted some days but then I know the next day will be a higher carb day and I will feel better so that’s what gets me through. I originally had planned to compete in May but I think it would be better to just wait until November. If I keep up like I am I should be ready. Also wanted to tell everyone thank you so much for the words of encouragement! It has helped me immensely.

So I just got home from the bar. Boy things are sooo different now that I don’t go there anymore. The girls seem so much more out of shape and shallow plus everyone is wasted. I can’t believe I used to be one of THEM. So I only had one glass of wine and it got me a bit buzzed! At this point in my life I feel like the last thing I want to do is go out to a meat market. Does any of this make sense? I guess I am just trying to say that exercising and dieting has changed my outlook a ton and I feel a lot better about myself and don’t need to get attention from stupid guys at the bar to have self confidence.
