WE WON!!!!!

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

We finally won the softball championship.  After many years we finally came out on top.  It is such a great feeling to win with these guys.  Winning with this team means everything…we’ve played so many years together and have held together through all these years.  I’m putting a movie together with footage from the games…I’ll post it when it’s done.

Softball Finals

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Made it to the finals in softball for the fourth year in a row.  Will be taking it easy on workouts until after the finals.  Workouts will be small…just enough to stay loose and maintain…maybe 3x’s a week.  As soon as they are over the workouts should be back and more focused than ever…can’t wait.

Sunday Feast

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Boy did I ever eat on Sunday.  Me and a buddy went out for Chinese food on Sunday just after the basketball team kicked major butt.  What I ate wasn’t too bad…a shrimp dinner (not fried) until satisifed…took home leftovers…but also had some chicken fingers (that was bad).  I thought ok this will be good for today…kick start the bodys engine for this week.  About three hours later however just as I started getting hungry the wives wanted to get something to eat.  We went for italian and oops…I had bread and butter, appetizer (bruschetta), pasta with meatballs (blue plate) gimme some salad, meatballs and fries please…OOOF!!!  I haven’t been that STUFFED since Feb.  I saw it as a good eye opener.  I used to eat like that all the time and it just does not feel good.  My body was very close to rejecting it.  When I woke up this morning I wasn’t even hungry…had a bowl of cheerios with blueberrys.  I won’t eat like that again until thanksgiving ;-)

good week so far

Friday, August 8th, 2008

So far this week my workouts have been very good.  I am still feeling the burn a couple days after each workout and have been mixing in cardio that is easy on the knees.

We had our final regular season softball game last night for first place.  I was up in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs, bases loaded and down by two…SWEET!!!  I got a base hit to left that scored two runs to tie the game but the guy on first got thrown out trying to get to third.  Then the other team scored two in the 10th and we couldn’t catch.  Oh well…now the playoffs…and after that it’s all about lifting the weights baby…OHHH YEAHHHH!!!!!

Intensify the workouts

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

With softball season almost over I’m getting itchy to intensify my workouts.  I started this week and changed them up a bit.  I’m still doing one muscle group a day for my main workouts.  After I finish the main muscle group of the day I’m doing a couple exercies for the muscle group I’ll be hitting three days from then.  However I am going to do different exercises for those groups…exercises that are not as intense and ones I rarely do to give those groups a little spark.  So far so good.  Changing up my routines gives me more motivation to push through…and if it doesn’t work well then I’ll just adjust it as I go.

running

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

During my 6 mile run a couple weeks ago my left knee got a little sore.  Been taking it easy since then…can only go for about .5 miles until it acts up.  I can’t stand not doing cardio after I workout now.  I’m going to start hitting the bag and biking for a while until my knee feels better.  Running has been the best thing for me but if I hit the other cardio hard enough those should do the trick.

Cheerios and Lucky Charms

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

My favorite treat right now is mixing Cheerios with Lucky Charms and adding some blueberries to boot.  Was wondering what type of weird mix everybody else enjoys.  My mouth waters for this one.  On vacation I was mixing Cheerios with Fruit Loops…that was a winner also.

6 mile run

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Ran for 6 miles on Sunday and started to notice my abs a little more.  I think I’ll hit my July 4th goals and will be very happy with the way I look.  I’m going to try to run for 8 miles by then end of the month.

I’m feeling more energetic every week and am so happy with my results.

Sick for a day

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

Was sick for the first time this year on Wed.  Not too bad but had a headache and felt very weak.  When I got home from work I went downstairs because I just did not want to miss a workout.  I got set up to start with some deadlifts and thought different.  I decided to let my body rest for one day and I would combine back and shoulders on Thursday.

When Thursday came my headache was gone but I still felt very weak.  When I got home I worked out anyway and did three sets of each exercise in lieu of the usual four.  After my workout I got on the treadmill and actually ran for 60 minutes at 5mph.  I could actually feel my body getting stronger as I ran on the treadmill.  When I was done running I felt great…like I slept for a couple hours and was completely refreshed.

When I woke up this morning I felt even better…I’m glad I gave my body that one day of rest.  Now I can look forward to the softball game tonight and enjoy a nice long holiday weekend.

Softball Season Opener

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Softball season bagan yesterday however I was in a horrible mood all day because the weather was terrible.  Threat of rain all day, windy and cold…not a day to look forward to playing in.  However the mood quickly changed when I got to the field.  It was great to see all the guys again…been playing with these guys for 16 years now and hopefully for another 16.

My energy felt endless being 35lbs lighter than the previous years of playing.  I was running so much faster I was tripping over my own feet around the bases.  I’m the type that plays relaxed and walks in and out from the outfield but yesterday I couldn’t stop running around.  It felt so good to have so much more energy and in terrible weather to boot.  I ended up going 3 for 5 with my two outs being solid hits so everything felt great.  Can’t wait for the next game Wed. and the weather outlook is 75 and sunny…for now…let’s hope it stays that way.

LET’S PLAY TWO ;-)
