I Need Motivation!

Lately..I have been lifting very heavy. With only a few weeks til contest prep starts up again, I am so exhausted and skipping my planned cardio for the most part. Any encouragement is appreciated. It is SO worth the effort for us all to work very hard. It is also the truth that I will never give up, but I struggle just like everyone else. I WILL stay positive to get er done !!

Amy, check my June 27 blog post on "motivation". You’ll see why I put it in quotations. Hope it helps & best of luck. Lots of respect coming your way for your example, determination & hard work.

    Keep charging. :D

    Amy-
Motivation is like the tides…POWERFUL, but it comes in and goes out. Stay at what you are doing and be assured it will come back.
You are an inspiration to many on this site, woman and men, for your great progress and dedication. Use that to bring the tide back in.
    Best,
    -Graham

You are such an inspiration to me especially when I look at your pics and see all the amazing progress your body has made. You’ve stuck with it 110% and you have an awesome physique. I know we all think you’re invinsible, but I know how hard you have to work to get your body to look like that, and I’m just in "awe!" I know you’ll continue to progress and build because it’s in your character, and YES you will get er’ DONE.

With the way you work/train, someone could easily understand, maybe a little burn out. I have to kick myself everyday just to get moving. That mojo hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s right where you left it. All you need to do is turn around and go get it. Good luck with the next comp.

  5. ShanBL Says:

I think you’ll get that motivation back when it’s time to start contest prep. You won’t have room to slack once that comes up.

  6. showmemuscle Says:

Wow, I guess I’m not the only one that got bit by the ‘bug’.lol. I’ve been feeling like that too! I always try to regroup and hit things from another direction. I remembered this quote, ‘ You will never plough a field if you only turn it over in your mind’. Stay strong sista!!

  7. Sharlott Says:

It seems like alot of us have the "bug" nowadays. Is it because summer is here? You can do this girl, you’re right. It’s DEFINITELY worth the effort. Dig down deep inside and find that drive again. I’ll be doing the same! :)

  8. thekittygato Says:

you deserve a break from cardio..especially since you kicked your ass for the last few months. Have the competition blues hit you yet?? I had them for a good two months..sucks!

  9. Lex29us Says:

We all go through it. Can have progress without a few bumps in the road. But if you can remain focused, and keep the vision of your goals alive in your mind and your heart, you’ll find that MOJO that will push you over the top. Don’t sweat it Suds, just keep doing you thing.

    Peace!

I feel the same way. During the heart of the summer, we’ve had no heat as yet, I’ve just got the blahs. Nobody to blame but myself, so time to buckle down.

Here is what I have to say on this….

you can skip all you want, but there is no way to get today back. No way to do today, what you forgot to do yesterday. You only have X amount of time in our lives to compete at a high level. You need to decide now if this is what you want, and do it. No playing around. The work that you dread is over before you know it, but the missed time can never be re-gained.

As I read all these comments…it makes me think of why I love this site so much. I feel like I got a group hug…LOL! Thankyou …all of you!

even the elite have good trainging days and bad training days. you have to be smart and take advantage of those good days and you will advance above everyone. remember what i said about post contest D? push through it.

  15. Mamaof2 Says:

Janthony said it very well. Just knowing that sometimes you have to DIG DEEP to find it in you, to get that fire lit again… I had some rough times a few weeks ago, I felt as though anything that could go wrong just about did. It took me a day to adjust my attitude and look at all the blessings, and move forward. I was once hit by a drunk driver and was told I would never be able to workout again….I have nerve damage, a reverse curve in my spine…and someone telling me CAN’T do something, made me JUST DO IT! You have the inner strength, to pull yourself up. But know it is ok, to take a much needed rest to regroup if needed…it sometimes LIGHTS that FIRE!

amy, i hope this doesn’t come accross like a jerk… but every since the wedding i’ve been struggling and so to read that even YOU struggle… it helps. thanks for the honesty. (i don’t mean to say that i’m glad you are strugling… i hope that didn’t come out wrong) everybody here is pulling for you…
i remember when i was pregnant and one day i didn’t feel like pushing so hard anymore and this woman said to me, "i see you in here all the time still going like you don’t have that baby growing in there and i told my husband that it really helps me to remember that if you can do it i can keep going too." it really encouraged me to know that just living my life the way i do was encouraging someone else….
what i mean is… you encourage so many people on here! just remember that! if YOU (being such a great example!!) fell of the boat for real ("not just slip ups but i mean long term or bigtime) i think i’d probably assume all hope was lost for me… REMEMBER US WHO LOOK UP TO YOU!!! :)
(wow everything i just said has a risk of souinding really jerky… i hope it came out the right way??!!)

  17. DrLynn Says:

Do a little something special for yourself. Pick up workout outfit in a bright, happy color or a new pair of shoes. A few songs for my IPod does wonders for me. There is something about new music that helps make the same ole routine seem fresh. Doing a workout or three at a friend’s gym instead of your regular place can help too. Even small changes can make such a big difference. We all cycle in terms of energy/focus/motivation. Believe me, its on its way back!! Just keep on showing up (I know you will).

  18. brittafoster Says:

wow ! you had a lot of response to this.. I feel the same way about cardio, and would rather lift all day,, but i too need to kick myself into gear,, I think the key is to find something that works quick,, I get on the stairmaster for hiit, bc it kicks my ass,and its over quick… good luck
