My First Arnold Experience
Tuesday, March 10th, 2009I first off want to thank Marc, Derek and Rob from Scivation for including me at the booth. You guys are awesome!! It was a pleasure to spend a few days with you all. I feel very fortunate to have experienced the excitement. Our booth was so busy the whole time! We sold Scivation gym bags and Vasocharge. Spending 2 days with my trainer Layne and his wife Isabel at the booth was motivational for me. Layne had so many people stop for autographed photos and information, it was like being next to a superstar
When I first arrived at the Expo, it took me 15 minutes just to find our booth. The place was enormous and packed with vendors. Once it opened…the traffic going through that building was ridiculous! I can’t remember the last time I saw so many people. We all sold are little hearts out!! It was a success both days I was there. The booth was hopping and I was busy the entire time. I tried to venture around and see some of the sights..but most times I just couldn’t get close to any booths because of the number of people.
The two people I really wanted to meet were Ava Cowan and Jamie Eason. I never saw them, I’m not sure if they were there. But I was so happy to meet so many BodySpace friends, I thank you all for stopping by to see me! I also want to thank Richard, BodySpace Admin for interviewing me!!
The two days flew by….I was fortunate enough to shake Arnold’s hand! I didn’t take pictures with any famous figure or bodybuilding icons…no time for that. I did want to visit the bb.com booth…but the line was miles long! That booth was rockin !!
Well…it’s back to the grind, training is full force!!
Balancing Family and Training
Sunday, March 1st, 2009This subject has been foremost on my mind lately. I know for the next 8 weeks, my training schedule will be stressful on all of us for comp prep. So I have begun my spring cleaning over this weekend, and made sure to spend quality family time. Sometimes I feel like I am in my own little world with all of this. My husband is not exactly into lifting weights, but he is very supportive of my choices. It’s tougher on him I think sometimes. I know he doesn’t like to see me exhausted or hungry. Today I did alot of housework and now I have a school project to work on. I’m looking forward to just chilling out on the couch with him later. I don’t know why, but I feel guilty sometimes for putting so much into my "hobby". Especially when my hubby says…"I want my wife back" to me. So I am going to make sure I don’t overly consume myself with all of this. With competitions, I am still doing them to compete against myself, not for a trophy per say. I have to admit , I am not exactly a fierce competitor. I’ve always been that way. It doesn’t mean I will half a*s my training…I just don’t have the eye of the tiger! I wonder where mine is!! I want to make sure that working out is ALWAYS an enjoyment and never a chore. To achieve my goal of a lifetime journey with fitness, this is very important to me.
On a different note……The other day I helped out at a school party for my son. The class was serving up "make your own sundaes". So after the other parents and I served up all the children…the mom’s started making their ice creams (GULP). I walked to the other side of the room, hoping to escape them. Then , it happened. My son looks at me with that disgusted, embarrassed, rolling his eyes kind of look. I could tell he was not happy. There is nothing worse than when your mom does not conform when you are age 7. So…I went over to the table, scooped out some icecream and ate it. My son was glowing with happiness. Sometimes this kind of stuff happens to me, but I refuse to let it affect my relationship with my son. Funny thing is….when we are home, if he even sees me looking at junk food, he says "I’m telling Layne". What a great kid I have! Family first, always and forever.
