Why Stay Annoyed ????

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

I am a person who truly believes the key to getting somewhere is to stay positive. There are enough uncontrollable things in life to get us upset…the economy, the weather etc. But I just don’t get it when I read about someone who has a goal and complains that they aren’t reaching it. Why annoy yourself? Do something about it! Whether it is to lose a few pounds, get your pro card, get sponsored…..turn the negativity into positive energy and come up with a plan!!  Hey , I am not perfect, I get in a rut too…but you will see me change my plan of action, not dwell it. Go after what you want!!!!!

Q & A Video

Monday, January 26th, 2009

I have had a few requests for me to make a video…one of me talking about my life, motivation, training etc… so this is my plan. I will make one (or more) and I am asking for help on what to talk about. If you have any questions ( pertaining to health, training etc…or about me) I will answer you personally on the video if I select your question. I am in no means an expert, but I have read alot of material over the years. Please feel free to write them in this blog or pm them! Talk to you soon!   ~amysuds~

Getting Ready For My Next Competition

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Well with 2 comps coming up in May, I am pretty sure I am going to reuse my blue figure suit. I mean, I only wore it once and with today’s economy…I need to watch everything I spend. Plus, it’s the figure and not the suit that wins! So a great friend here, Nicole gave me some advice on how to spruce up my suit, not to mention all the tips she shared to help me with my first competition…..thankyou for being such an asset to the site! http://bodyspace.bodybuilding.com/nicolelleb/

My workout today…with my son…

Monday, January 19th, 2009

scan0036.jpgNo school today, no problem. The kids know my routine. When I go in the basement to workout, the rules are…if you are going to join me….no talking to me, no yelling, please just let me do this…etc. So I began my upper body workout and my 7 yr old son decided to use the ellipitcal. Today I realized I have inspired him. He pedalled away on that thing for a half an hour. Then, proceeded to make a chart and write down his time and calories burnt. So he sits down on the carpet and tells me he wants to beat it tomorrow. So I ask him what he means. He answers "you know Mom, burn more calories". Keep in mind my son is very thin and needs to gain a few pounds :) . So I move onward and spend a minute or two logging in some of my weights/reps in my book…I turn around and he is under the Smith Machine rowing. I had 140 lbs of weight on the thing that I just did close grip rows with. He proceeds to pull the thing all the way back, slowly lowers it down. He turns around with the biggest sh*t eatin grin I ever saw. I almost fell down. All I can think is…OMG, his back…OMG…he’s hurt for sure. He stands up and says " oh yeah Mom…that was great". Once again we had the discussion about safety and to please NOT touch my stuff without asking. But I realize I am inspiring him…who knows, the next Layne Norton maybe????

Scivation Xtend …worth every penny spent!!!

Monday, January 19th, 2009

This is my second week of diligently not forgetting to take any supplements. I have to comment on this product. Xtend is an endurance and recovery enhancer produced by Scivation…for anyone not familiar with it. Well I need to share with you all…you need to use this product. I can’t believe how much better I feel when I am working out. The energy it gives me is priceless….not to mention what I noticed today. I was doing my upper body workout, pushing hard and really focusing on the muscle group I was working. As I was finishing up my concentration curls…I caught a glance of my entire arm like I’ve never…ever…seen it. The veins were popping outta the top of my forearms and I stopped the rep to check out the remainder. The vasodilation was remarkable…it’s so important for nutrients to get to the muscles quickly. Anyhow…my point here is…go to the store on this site and get yourself some of this if you don’t already use it. Enough said.

Week 2 Training Highlights

Friday, January 16th, 2009

I still have one more workout day this week, but I wanted to share some of my experiences thus far. First off, last week was tough. I shoveled seven hours and it killed my back. Somehow I got through the exercises and actually made gains. This week however, the pain continues and I shoveled another 3 hours also. This snow was the freakin heavy sh*t too. Spring, please come!!  So this week, my stiff leg deadlifts were way under normal, but that’s about it. I had increases across the board. Layne apparantly has my nutrition/supplements right on target because I am recovering nicely (except my back which has been beaten to a pulp). I also noticed I am alot less sore in my legs than normal. I was honestly expecting to have trouble walking after how much weight I moved this week. Once again….fantastic recovery.

I will give you an idea of some things I did this week in various numbers of sets. These examples are only a fraction of the total volume of different exercises. As you will read, I have a huge oppurtunity to get stronger. Most of these were 3 sets this week I believe.

Smith machine squats    90lb  8r

45 degree leg press  220lb  10 r

leg extension  70lb 15r

leg curl 60lb 12r

alt dumbell curls  30lb  8r

flat db press 30lb 8r

close grip cable row 120lb 12r

I am very focused and I have to buy more weights for my machines this weekend. That’s a good sign  :)
