Asthma Troubles
Well I have had asthma for years and really haven’t had any major problems. When I was doing cardio regularly (1 hour every day) , I can’t remember using my inhaler much. Now with my focus on weight training, the cardio has kinda fallen wayside for the time being. So I have an asmtha action plan with a flow meter I use to check my breathing. The past few weeks I have been extremely tired and I wondered if maybe outdoor allergies were triggering something? Also, it’s a huge clue when I am yawning in the middle of a heart pumping leg workout. So tonight I checked it and yup…it’s 350. My best peak flow is 490 and emergency is when it falls below 245. I guess I need to go to the doc tomorrow! I need to get this under control before cold/flu season starts. I have had some very difficult times during the winter in previous years….and I am not a big fan of bronchitis. Good thing I still have my inhalers……..

Hey, I know exactly how that goes. I’ve had asthma for a while now too, and over the past 3-4ish years, i’ve developed pretty bad allergies. Once those are under control though, it’s not a problem. What I’ve done is I opt for the o.t.c. claritin d. it’s pretty much amazing. and it can be cheaper than what most doctors will prescribe. Good luck with figuring out the allergy situation. Hope you feel better.

glad you are keeping a close eye on things. I don’t know what I’d do if I had to give up my cardio. Good luck with the in & out challenge. Keep moving forwards, and enjoy your journey.

Amy,
Nip that in the back side ASAP… I exactly know what you are going through. That’s why I started working out again. I went several years of getting bronchitis both in early spring and later fall. Go figure when allergies always hit everyone. It’s funny because I know when the season are changing before most because lungs get tight. And I always can tell when I have been neglecting cardio (or not working out in a couple weeks) for to long because the asthma always brings up it’s ugly head. Hit the DOC. Hate to see all your hard work for a show not to happen for you.Hope you get BETTER SOON!!

hey amy, i’ve had asthma since i was a kid… the doc says comes and goes, and maybe that’s true, but i had bronchitis several times a winter for years. i found out i have gluten intolerence (the edge of celiac disease) and stopped eating gluten… haven’t had an asthma attack since then. i remember seeing your diet once before and don’t think you eat much of it, but if it is a problem, even a little bit here or there will hurt… i can’t eat it EVER or i get more than just asthma problems…. that also interfere with a good workout! before i went gluten free though, the doc gave me singulair for allergies, and it was the BEST thing that ehlped… if yours is allergy induced too, you might wnat to try that. (they used to try to give prednizone as a quick fix… that steroid was hell on me. maybe it’s not so rough to you, but if it is… you might want to check out the singulair.) whatever the case… i hope you are feeling better by the time i’ve written this, and getting that energy back! … always tough to get by when precious energy is zapped!
