A sore Sunday

Yes, I am very sore today, as I figured. This morning I walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes and feel much better now. I’m a little confused with my weight lately, it goes up and down like just a few pounds. So I’m going back to basics and made sure I kept my heart rate around 130 through my whole walk. Need to save the muscle! I was so bored though, my brain is telling me to "go faster slacker"…and I actually have to force myself to not speed up. So this afternoon, I’m going after my lats again, with 12rep sets .Maybe a little nap first!!

Oh yes, Sundays are always difficult for some reason. I know that you know your stuff cause obviously it shows but there are some supplement suggestions I put in my blog that may help your progress out. Keep up the great work! Oh yeh, when is spring gonna get to Illinios and Wisconsin??? Brrr!

    Gotta love naps! :)

Hey, I’m all about the long, slow distance. I’ve read that will maximize fat as the energy source versus going over a heart rate of 130 beats per minute. I’m no scientist, but that’s my current strategy courtesy of the info from Dave Palumbo, editor of Muscular Development magazine’s online deal.

Your goal of saving the muscle while losing that last gram of fat (pounds in my case) is a goal we share as well.

    Wishing you continued success!

Sunday naps are the best! You’re looking tight, sistah! And slow and steady does burn more fat–you actually burn more fat with oxygen present (you know that moderate pace defined as "being able to comfortably carry on a conversation?")

I am the king of Naps…….I believe the nap is highly underappreciated. Sunday afternoons are actuall built for the nap. I appreciated your comment on my blog….always fun to chat with you :)

It’s hilarious that you wrote about your HR at 130….I did my HIIT for 25 mins after my workout today and everytime I slowed down to lower my HR to about 135, I felt like everyone else was thinking I was lazy or something. It’s so easy to keep my HR in the 140’s but I’m not sweating as much going at such a slow speed so it’s a very weird feeling.

I will tell you that an awesome trick to bounce your HR up VERY fast is to just do 15 jumps from a standing position as high as you can…one after the other. Check your HR and I guarantee it’ll be at or above 80% of your max HR. I once did an HIIT workout and just used jumps (speed up HR) followed by jumping jacks (slow down HR) and I was sweating like crazy. Cool way to spike your HR up too when you need it….comes in handy during weighted workouts when you feel you aren’t sweating and don’t have the "pump" anymore.

don’t fret the couple of pounds. There are a lot of different factors that go into play here…how many carbs did you consume the day before? Have you been drinking more or less water than before? It could be water weight. You look fantastic…go take a nap! Then hit the gym hard!
