THERE IS A CHILL IN THE MORNING AIR
AS YOU WALK OUT THE DOOR
OFF TO THE GYM TO PUMP IT UP
FREE WEIGHTS AWAIT YOU ON THE FLOOR

NOT MANY UNDERSTAND YOU
THE REASONS THAT YOU DO IT
TO BUILD YOUR BODY COMPLETELY
MUSCLES BULGING AND TOTALLY FIT

SOME DO IT FOR STRENGTH
SOME DO IT FOR SHOW
SOME DO IT FOR FUN
AND OTHERS I DO NOT KNOW

FOCUSING ON THE GOALS AHEAD
AS YOU DO YOUR NEXT SET
TOTALLY LOST INTO YOURSELF
AS YOU WORK UP A GOOD SWEAT

THREE TO FOUR WORKOUTS A DAY
DIET AND NUTRITION IS A MUST
YOU GET UP AT THE CRACK OF DAWN
AND GET HOME WELL AFTER DUSK

THIS POEM IS A TRIBUTE
TO THOSE WHO PUMP AND SWEAT
I AM A TRUE FAN OF ALL
YOU HAVE MY UTMOST RESPECT

YOUR SACRIFICES HAVE BEEN NOTED
AND PLEASE TAKE IT TO HEART
KEEP BUILDING YOUR PERSONAL TEMPLE
YOUR BODY IS THE TRUEST FORM OF ART

THE COMPETITION
By Daniel J. Maag

YOU ARISE FROM YOUR BED
AS A NEW DAY BEGINS
THINKING OF THE COMPETITION
REALLY HOPING YOU CAN WIN

YOU SIT WITH YOUR LOVED ONE
EATING A VERY LIGHT SNACK
NO BODY FAT ON YOU TODAY
POISED AND READY FOR THE ATTACK

YOU ARRIVE AT THE ARENA
SEVERAL HOURS BEFORE THE EVENT
YOU HAVE MANY THINGS STILL TO DO
YOUR TIME MUST BE WELL SPENT

YOU MINGLE AND MEET
WITH COMPETITORS AND FANS
TRADING STORIES AND NUTRITION IDEAS
TAKING PICTURES AND COMPARING TANS

THERE ARE VENDORS AND SHOPS
SPORTS EQUIPMENT AND FOOD TOO
THERE ARE SO MANY TEMPTATIONS
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

IT’S ALMOST TIME FOR YOU
TO GET ON THE STAGE TO COMPETE
ONE FINAL CHECK OF YOURSELF
“HONEY” GO FIND YOUR SEAT

AS YOU GET ON THE STAGE
THE CROWD SHOUTS WITH GLEE
YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE
STRIKING POSES FOR ALL TO SEE

THE COMPETITION IS FIERCE
SEPARATED BY WEIGHT AND CLASS
ALL THOSE MONTHS OF TRAINING
YOU HOPE YOU DON’T FALL ON YOUR ASS

THE COMPETITORS DWINDLE DOWN
THERE ARE NOW ONLY A SELECT FEW
JUST ONE FINAL ROUND OF POSES
YOU HOPE THE JUDGES PICK YOU

NOW DOWN TO THE FINAL FIVE
YOU MADE THE FINAL CUT
NOW COME THE PRIZES
WILL YOU WIN A SHINY CUP?

YOU HOLD YOUR BREATH AND SMILE
AS THE JUDGES MAKE THEIR PICKS
THE ANTICIPATION OF WHAT’S TO COME
IS REALLY MAKING YOU FEEL SICK

ALAS THE COMPETITION HAS ENDED
FUN WAS HAD BY ALL AROUND
YOU ARE ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES
A TROPHY IN HAND AND HOMEWARD BOUND

Figure or Bodybuilding Poll

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Ok everyone, I know I said I was going back to bodybuilding after the Arnold Classic, but i’m really on the fence with this one.  I’ve done 2 bodybuilding show and did very well. I’ve now done 2 figure shows……one of which was at a International Level and did good.  So, now the question is….do I go back to bodybuilding for Jr. Nationals….Lightweight or stay in Figure and try to get my pro-card.  I have most judges telling me to do BB….lightweight.  I LOVE bodybuilding, i love the hard, lean, shredded look that you have to obtain to get on stage, i love the posing and the routine that you have to do. The judging is consistant….you MUST be HARD,DRY,LEAN and SHREDDED.  But, to get a pro-card at that level…..I’d probaby have to change the way I look and I don’t want to do that.  So, that takes us to figure…..Judging is inconsistant. You never know if they want hard and lean, or softer and fulller.  I would have to tone down my back a bit….(you know the "MONEY SHOT") LOL,  I compete against probably 40 to 50 girls in my division as opposed to maybe 15 in BB…….but, i keep my feminine look. So, I"m taking a poll……please give me your input and opinions.  FIGURE or BODYBUILDING???

ARNOLD AMATEUR RESULTS

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Well, Hello everyone…..I’m back and trying to recoup from a very exciting weekend. As many of you know. I made the top ten after pre-judging to go onto the finals on Sat. Here is the link for pre-judging pics. http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLandingSignin.jsp?Uc=13y9p6gu.uk4ql26&Uy=2ay5kr&Upost_signin=Slideshow.jsp%3Fmode%3Dfromshare&Ux=0   Finals where Sat. am and went by in a flash. I unfortunately did not make the top 5. I placed 7th in my division.  I actually did not find out until this morning, and i’m still trying to find score sheets online to see where I feel overall with the 125 competiters.  My experience at the Arnold was awesome.  This only being my second figure show ever…i’m quite happy with how I did.  I was probably a bit too hard and lean for what the judges where looking for, but I knew what I wanted to look like and for my legs to come in….well, it’s how the chips fall.  I’m please with the results.  The competition was tough….all the girls looked fantasic and everyone was extremely nice back stage.

SO.. after finals.  I FINALLY MET KAT!!!!!!!! OMG..i’m standing at a booth with a couple of friends and I swear I recognize this woman and sure enough, she comes up to me………AND YEP…it’s KATNAP!!!!!!  It was the greatest!  She looks amazing……she beautiful……..she’s sincere and I absolutely love her.  THANK YOU KAT…..for supporting me!   I cannot wait to see her on stage.

I just want you all to know that because of BB.com…you guys made me feel like a star…..a ROCKSTAR! LOL I cannot tell you enough how truly blessed I am to be part of a site that has given me some much.  I feel like I belong to this strong family where the encouragment and support is endless.

I will be posting new pics soon…..To my BODYSPACE FAMILY….my hat is off to you all.  God bless you.

Ok. folks…..here we are.  Flying out tomorrow at 7AM for Columbus, Ohio.  I weighed in today at 120lbs and my bodyfat was 7.7%, that is very close to what I wanted to be at on stage.  My goal was 7.5% and 115lbs.  I am totally carb depleted right now…so hopefully I’m speelong everything right (LOL…just playing on the spelling word).  See, not so bad….I haven’t lost my sense of humor.  Although I will be soon, if I don’t get packed, prep my food for the next three days, spray tan, get some final cardio in AND hmmmmmmmmmmm  RELAX!!!  Oh yeah…start to carb load tonight and really thought it was going to be something good.  NOPE!  Red pot…thats what I get to start with.  YUK…gotta stay clean as to not spill over, come in flat……and definitely not retain any water.  OK…with all that said.  I have to go…..AGAIN, my dearest Bodyspace friends. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU….YOU HAVE TRULY BEEN A BLESSING WITH ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT THAT HAS KEPT ME GOING OVER THAT PAST FEW WEEKS.  MUAH…..SEE YA ON STAGE, AMY 2008 ROCKSTAR

YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!  Well, here we are……8 days and counting.  And my friends…you have been amazing with the support and encouragement.  Had my bodyfat checked today and its right on que….8% and i’m weighing 121lbs today.  I’m hoping to be 7.5% and maybe 117lbs.  I fight the battle of upper body being WAY to lean and hard when my bodyfat gets this low…but my legs still needing some work. So, we’ll see how it all comes together.  I’m ready…just fine tuning, posing and getting ready to fly out Wed. morning.  Thursday night at 7 pm is prejudging.  I need to be in the top 10 of my class to go on to finals.  Friday, photo shoot at 11:00 am, networking at the Expo in hopes of picking up a sponser, then off my feet and into bed early.  Saturday I need to be up at 5am to be at the Convention Center at 7:30 am where final begin at 10:00 am in front of thousands of people.  I’m hoping to meet a few people that I have talked to from BB.COM.  Then one more photo shoot at 4:00pm……..THEN!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS TIME TO EAT!!!!  So, my friends…….many thanks again for keeping me going these past few weeks.  It’s been a true blessing that God has brought you into my life.  SEE YA ON STAGE!  2008 ROCKSTAR xo

TESTIMONIAL from one of “TEAM KESSLER”s girls~!

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

I have always been involved in athletics and I have been participating in some form of weight training most of my adult life.

I recently began watching figure competition and became increasingly interested in the sport. I finally built up the nerve and decided I wanted to compete in a figure show. I picked a show and began my training and dieting at 16 weeks out.  I was making marginal progress with no dramatic results and there was no denying that I needed help. At that point I began to search for assistance. I had to find the right trainer for me, someone who really knew the facts, someone who could teach and motivate, and someone who had competition experience.

Amy Kessler’s name was mentioned to me and when I met her it was like an angel came into my life. She was everything I had been hoping for, a teacher, a motivator, a mentor, and a friend. The first time I met Amy, I knew she was the one person who would help me achieve the goals that I had been longing and struggling for. Amy whipped me into shape. She corrected my diet, perfected my lifting, and gave me all the positive reinforcement and confidence I needed to succeed. At times I wasn’t happy with the things I had to give up, but her tough love pushed me to the place where I needed to be. And that place was on stage as the overall figure champion at my very first competition.

I look up to Amy in so many ways, not only as an extremely intelligent trainer, but as a positive personality and confident strong woman.  She has had a very positive effect on my life. I am healthier and happier than I have ever been before thanks to her knowledge, commitment, and perseverance.

Amy continues to support me and help me train to achieve my ultimate goal to become a professional figure competitor. I want to thank you, Amy Kessler, from the bottom of my heart.  I could never be where I am with out you.

                                                                          Sincerely,

                                                                          Hazel Rauls
