CONTINENTAL USA 2008

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Well, Im back from the show this past weekend…and all I can say is WOW! What a great show and great experience!!! As always this show is phenomenal and ran so well.  There were 141 competitors total, 30 being figure and the rest bodybuilders.  There were 11 total female bodybuilders, which is an awesome turn out.  I got in Friday night for early weigh ins and weighed 124.5lbs.  Thinking I wasn’t going to make the lightweights, my trainer decided to just continue loading me up.  LOL YEAH ME!!!  So….we proceeded to try and find a place to eat and decided on something that I NEVER even eat off season.  I HAD a DOUBLE WHOPPER with cheese, fries and a truck load of Ketchup.  I dont even eat ketchup. lol  ANYWAY…wondering if I could eat the whole thing and to my amazement…NOT REALLY….I DID! hehehehehe.

So, we headed back to the hotel to get my feet up, stray some color on, pose and get to bed.  Woke up the next morning to the wonderful smell of a HUGE WAFFLE with real butter and maple syrup.  YUM!!  YEP…once again, I ate the whole thing.  Got ready and headed off to the morning meeting.  I decided to weigh in again to see where I was. Started off with the lightweights…..121.5lbs.  Nope, didnt make it. Went to pee…and weighed in with the Middleweights…dropped one more pound and got on stage at 120.5lbs @ about 6.8% bodyfat.

Well…long story short. I won my class and went up against the lightweight and heavyweight for the overall.  IT WAS TOUGH…I have never worked so hard for a win.  My heart was pounding….and I could NOT stop shaking on Stage.  But….after all the hard work….the diet….and the training.  I ended up with the "OVERALL WIN"….and by ONLY one point.  A couple of the judges really wanted the bigger look and thought I was a bit too up and down.  I do need to work on my lats and shoulder more for Masters and Nationals next year.  I was very happy with my legs however and total conditioning.  And yes….VERY THANKFUL for the "overall".

So….to finalize, I once again want and NEED to thank all of you on Bodyspace for everything. All the kind words, all the support, encouragement, emails and comments.  It is an awesome feeling to have so many on your side and cheering for you.  I couldnt do it without YOU!  THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.   Until next time……SEE YA ON STAGE! xo

my response…..

HMMMM?? Where to start. First, I train hard enough to make a grown man puke. Second, When some say that the diet is designed for you to CHEAT….I DONT!! I eat as clean as it gets.
I am 46 yrs. old…and have been lifting for 20 plus years… (does this person know anything about muscle maturity?) and have always trained my upper body like a guy. Did this person see my lower half. If in fact I was using steriods…my lower body would be just has hard and conditioned as my upper body. but its not. (steriods dont decide where they want to build muscle) Not competiting until the past two years, I’ve NEVER trained my legs like I should have been, but genetics plays a huge part in my upper body. With all that said. IM Two weeks out from a show….with all the muscle that I carry in my upper body. I SHOULD BE this hard, dry and lean. I would love for someone to challenge Iris, Jay, Ronnie or anyone else that LOOKS GOOD with a question like that. Plus….why does anyone care? Just a question…..
Anyway, thanks for your thoughts and input.
Take care……

Just a thought..but if you were to go back and look at my progress pics from the Arnold….about 2-5 weeks out my back was getting pretty cut and lean.  And I was doing figure.   I have had some comment on how many changes I have made in the past 6 months.  Well, isnt that the goal?  Especially, if you’re going from figure to BB???  I needed to put on size and gain some muslce.  So, why is it that if you Train hard….diet right and look good.  Everyone assumes you take steriods.??

all comments welcome.  And remember im 2 weeks out from a show…..

Questions about me?

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

I have recently been sent an email about the use of steriods and my training.  read below….

dont know how to say this but ……
well one of my good friends is in the the ifbb, and they say that you, by no means are ‘legal’.. this obviously means that you take supplements that i cant buy at GNC….. now im one of those people that dont buy into rumors, so i’d figure i’d go straight to the source… if you chose not to reply, i’m gonna assume that you do and you just dont wanna talk about it….. now before you get all pissed and cuse me under your breath, in no way shape or form do i think peoplethat do use controlled supplements a cheater or that they are taking the easy way out… i find the oppisite to be quite true.. people that do use these drugs seem to workout harder, stay more focused, and take this sport to the next lvl….also, that there is no wonder drug that just builds muscle and burns fat while you just sit on the couch… one still has to workout hard and stay close to a clean diet
