I am in my off season training status right now. The next strongman contest that I am planning is scheduled for May 2010. Here is a quick rundown of my training schedule.
Mondays 4pm Chest and Shoulders
9pm Strongman training, Atlas stones, rock
carry, farmers walk
Tuesdays 4pm back
9pm Log press, incline keg carry
Wednesday 4pm Legs
9pm Atlas Stones, rock carry, farmers walk
Thursday 4pm Bis and tris
9pm log press, incline keg carry
Friday 4pm Power Day
consisting of Dead Lifts, Squats, Clean & press.and what ever other power training i Feel like doing.
Saturday and Sunday Off

Well as expected I missed my first two shows of the year. I am very upset with myself but I was just not 100%.
There are two more strongman contests scheduled this year that are close to me and I WILL be doing both of them.

My training has been going relatively well. I am still not happy with were I am as far as weights. But I am training my ass off and improving quickly.
My current strongman training consists of:
Deadlifts, Zercher Squats, Log Press, Atlas Stones, Stone Carry, Thick Dumbell Press, Truck push and pull, Just to name a few.
This is along with my normal Gym routine.
I perform all of these 2x to 3x a week.
Between work and my kids playing sports it gets tough sometimes. Many nights I am in the garage training as late as 1 to 2 am than i get up for work at 5 am. This along with bodybuilding are very demanding sports that take dedication. This is not for the week or lazy.

My training is going slow. I don’t think I am going to make the shows I had planned for May. I am still having alot of health issues that are affecting my overall training.

This weeks training went really good. I am having a lot of fun working with my new steel log. I have already increased the weight by 20 pounds in just a couple weeks. My deadlifts are still going slow. I have only increased the weight by 10 pounds. I am really struggling with this. My all time 1 rep max was during a contest last year where I hit 550 pounds. Right now I am only doing 450 pounds and the increase is going slow. My goal for this year is to hit 650 on the deadkift and 275 on the log press. These are the numbers that I need to be competitive in the strongman contests. The long layoff I am returning from really hurt my total progress.

I recieved my new steel log and I am excited to start training with it, since the log press is my worst event. My deadlift is still lower than I would like but I am working on that.

Just getting back to my training. Been off for awhile due to sickness ( Diabetes) and some injuries. Not training during the holidays really hurt my progress. Im training like a madman now trying to be ready for my first strongman contest of 2009 which is on May 2. Don’t know if I will be ready or not.
