Burn Baby Burn

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

The fire is stoked (and so am I).  Over the last month, I’ve dropped about 8lbs following the Scivation Cut Diet.  This is even while I dealt with a short back injury and a nasty flu/cold (weight loss not due to sickness).  Now, I have received my personal program from Derek Charlebois at Scivation which made my weekend.  The program he set up for me is based off the CHA diet which I am not quite familiar with yet.  So, I’ll spend this weekend reading up and making preparations to transition to the program starting next week.  I am really excited as I feel I have already built up some momentum before starting the CHA program.  More results around the corner.

Maintaining while sick

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

I’m in my 4th day being sick and not working out.  I’m starting to get real anxious to get back into the gym.  I feel a tad better today but my throat is still really sore.  My glands seem a little less swollen though.  I’ve been sipping my Xtend with some added Glutamine and BCAAs (prevent catabolism) during the days and eating primarily just protein and fat.  However, yesterday morning, I got on the scale and saw I lost 3lbs in 24hrs even though I had been eating and drinking to stay hydrated.  So, I indulged myself in two pieces of left-over pizza in the afternoon and ate some ice cream in the evening after my dinner (dinner was spot on – chicken breast, green beans and cashews).  I have to say that the ice cream was a relief on my sore throat but no more today or the rest of the week as I gained the 3lbs back as of this morning – I will maintain clean eating for the rest of the week.  My biggest concern about being sick was rapid weight loss and it seems that I am doing ok even though I had the 3lb swing.

I’m tempted to get on the treadmill and walk for an hour just to get some activity.

Scivation Cut Diet: Week 10

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

I’m in week 10 of Scivation Cut Diet.  Quite frankly it’s only been over the last month that I have found my groove on this diet.  I started in January (repeated some weeks as I figured out my routine) but my diet and cardio was inconsistent.  Now I have reached the level of discipline required to be successful.  I don’t ever skip cardio – ever.  No alcohol during the week and when I have it on the weekend it’s basically vodka and club soda (or Xtend Watermelon w/ vodka).  I realized that the less I drink, the less I want to; imagine that.

Once I finish week twelve, I’ll start it over again.  At least until I get my personalized plan from Derek.Weeks 9-12 involved heavier lifts and I have found that I’m breaking PR’s left and right.Wednesday – Back / Abs / CardioBent Over BB Rows: 185lb 6rep, 205lb 4rep, 225lb 3sets of 4reps each

One Arm DB Row: 100lb 4rep, 110lb 4rep, 120lb 3sets of 4reps each

Wide Grip Lat PullDown: 240lbs 5sets at 4reps each

Standing Wide Grip Pull Down: 200lbs 4sets of 8reps

I didn’t do shrugs since I strained a trap/neck muscle a few days ago.

Abs:

Decline Bench Leg Raises: 4sets of 15reps

Decline Bench SitUps: 3sets of 25reps

PWO Cardio:30 minutes on Cybex Elipitical: Incline = 10 (max) Resistance = 100 (max) Avg HBPM 130-150

Thursday
 I didn’t record my routine today but here’s a summary;
Abs / Calves / 45 minutes on Cybex Eliptical: Incline = 10 (max) Resistance = 100 (Max) Avg HBPM 130-150
