How many time should I spend at GYM?

The last seven months I been working for almost half an hour at Gym. I work out two muscles, four exercises each, 10-15 minutes of cardio and  10 minutes to abs. This trainnig has given me great results but I want to know if them are the correct ones for a half year work out. But when I try heavier weight I stay at Gym almost 3 hours I don’t know if that is right, so how many time is good to work out, and is it possible to train twice a day?

I read over and over again that 45 min of weights is the most you should do. Anything after that is overkill. If you are seeing results you have found something that works for you and would stick with it if you like your results. I would not train muscles twice a day. Your body need to rest and recover.

I train for at least 2 hours minimum sometimes almost three with cardio and abs five times a week. Many people would say that is way to much time in the gym. But I dont mind it because I love being in the gym it’s fun for me, I dont want to leave. I am sure sarahchick would not agree with that time allotment.
Also remember more is not better–training twice a day could be done for perhaps a week maybe two but then you would have to take a week off or slow down as to not damage yourself — Your body needs time to repair and grow. How does it do that? Sleep and nutrition. You have to adjust your diet to what you want? Do you want mass? Do you want to drop weight? etc. You should know your RMR and how many calories you consume each day on average. Also you can use bodybuilding.com to fins several workout programs that you can print up and follow. I do it all the time.
I think the average person does about an hour in the gym at least four times per week. But to be honest I dont want to be average, and thus i try to work out harder, and smarter. I have seen the same people in the gym for over a year now and they havent changed at all because they are doing things the wrong way. Not dieting for example.
