Creepy crawly legs

I have noticed over the last couple of years that I wake up a lot at night stretching and moving my legs.  Sometimes it’s like I am not even really asleep.  If I get up and take tylenol or motrin then I can sleep soundly.  This only happens when I work out.  If I take the week off I am fine and can sleep like a baby.  It is the worst after I have done legs of course. During the week on non-leg days I run or do the step-mill.  Both cardio exercises, work my legs and I am not miserably sore but they just feel uncomfortable at night.  Nothing seems to help but the tylenol or motrin.

After 4 days of working out hard and eating mainly protein, I just want a glass of wine and a pasta dish.  I took today off because I had a facial scheduled this morning.  I worked extra hard yesterday and fought off the temptation to eat almond m&ms by the fistful, (convincing myself that they aren’t that bad because the almonds are protein).

I  had to take tylenol last night because my shoulders were still sore from Tuesday and my legs were sore from Thursday.  After sleeping like crap, because tylenol wears off so quick, and I have a 3 month old, I woke up with pasta and wine on my mind.  I have a bottle of Merlot that has been sitting on the kitchen counter all week long.  I have been passing by it with love and affection like, "Your my prize".  I made some whole wheat penne, with smart ground, low fat ricotta, sauce and other low fat cheeses.  The wine is the best part.

Yesterday I took my kids to the pool.  I usually meet my other mommy friends there after the gym.  We had an incident with poo and the pool……anyways.  I wanted to drink the whole bottle last night but I decided I was way to exhausted to lift up the wine bottle opener.

I am only having one glass because tomorrow I am taking my daughter to the Science museum in Atlanta.  I need to be energetic and fresh, so when I hear, "MOMMY", screamed at me for the 500th time I don’t try to give her away to someone.

Making progress

I am really happy with the progress I have made.  I guess all the muscle was still underneath all of the fat I acquired being pregnant.  My legs are much leaner than they were a month ago and I can see way more muscle when I am working out.  The biggest assurance that I am looking better is, people saying that I look fit.  I am still not even close to where I want to be.  I feel like I look good with clothes on…….I want to look good with no clothes on.  That is when I will feel like I am, "Back in shape".

Sick days

I have to take a sick day today.  I hate it but I ran yesterday and I was sick and I thought it would help.  My throat hurts so bad I can’t swallow and I have no appetite at all so whatever I eat today will be forced.  I don’t even want to drink anything.  If I wasn’t miserable I would still go to the gym but I feel like I am just not getting better.

I am so motivated, even sick, that I still want to go work out and I feel guilty for taking a sick day.

Results Driven!!

I am a results driven person. I lost one more pound and I am looking leaner than last week so I am all types of pumped up right now.  I have a cold but I still went and worked out today.  Haven’t really done any ab exercises yet. I figure they will start to look good when I get some more of the fat off.  I did some crunches today where I held them at the top but I only did 30.  Gotta go slow with the abs.

Lost 2 more lbs

I was two pounds lighter this am.  I have been busting my butt so I am glad I saw a difference in the scale.  It seems like it takes the scale a few weeks to catch up to the physical changes.  

I ran 3.10 miles today in 30 minutes and then did shoulders.  I am trying to get my run time back down to at least a 9 min mile.  I was dying today on that treadmill but I did it.

The diet that I started on the 8th is going well.  I know the only way to get the fat off fast is diet.  I can run to China but it isn’t going to give me the results I want.  

My abs are still split so I just did the transverse abdominal exercises today.  My baby bump is going down little by little.

Split ABS

I went back to the gym last week and I have been working hard but no change in my weight.  I am getting stronger and tighter but the changes are slight.  I have also cleaned up my diet.  I am eating every 2 hours and it is the meso-endo fast track type C diet.  I am sure I will start to see some major changes by the end of this month.  

I didn’t realize my abs were still separated and you are not supposed to do sit-ups, crunches or planks when your abs are split.  So my friend told me to look up transverse-abdominal exercises.  I have been doing those and my stomach muscles are starting to come together.

Legs

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Today I did legs using 15 lb weights, elastic resistance band, jump rope and large ball.  I did lunges and squats and some other stuff and I jumped rope in between.  

My baby boy got his 2 month shots yesterday so next week I will head back to the gym.  There is a new vaccine for the roto-virus which is great b/c gym daycares are breeding grounds for the roto-virus.  My daughter used to get it all the time and it is nasty and then I was out of the gym for about a week or more.

Yesterday I did cross-fit in my friend Meg’s basement (Meg is a certified personal trainer).  We did 6 circuits with about 5 different exercises in each circuit with 25-30 reps and started each one with jump rope.  I was tired and hungry when I was done.  I had to take it easy on the lower abdominal exercises b/c I just had Major abdominal surgery 8 weeks ago but I was able to do pretty much everything, I just could not go real fast.

Today I ran 4 miles and I am gonna lay off the sit-ups for today b/c I am pretty sore in the ab area.

I ordered some new work-out clothes from Nike.com.  Getting new work-out clothes always motivates me.

I am so happy I lost two pound so now I am 150.  I have been working hard and eating very well and sometimes I don’t see a change in the scale for a week or two and then all of a sudden two pounds are gone.  I am only 8 weeks out from having my baby and I have lost a total of 40 lbs.  

I am going to my friend Meg’s this am to do cross-fit in her basement. I will post what we did and take new pictures after I get back.
