The hardest part….

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

The hardest part of this journey for me is my diet! I do pretty well during the day while I’m at work, but the evenings and weekends are a struggle. I think I’m not eatting enough during the day and I am starving by the time I get home from work, so I tend to binge on whatever is available. It’s a work in progress I know and I must give myself some credit because I have come a long way from eatting completely crappy the entire day!

Staying away from sweets is not a problem. I pretty much grew out of that as I got older. My weakness is pasta (carbs), lots & lots of cheese, and I indulge in a lot of alcoholic beverages on the weekends! Oops! Did I admit that??? And the thought of eatting bland, dry chicken on a regular basis makes me cringe!

Yep! My diet sucks all around! I think I know what my issues are but I guess I’m not as focused on my diet as I am on my training. I know I could do ALOT better with my eatting and drinking habits, but the discipline is not there yet. “Yet” being the key word.

Please help! Any suggestions or recommendations in this area are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

In the beginning….

Welcome to my blog! I am new here on BodySpace and my page is a work in progress….I have yet to post some pics. I took some pics early this morning while I was getting ready for work, so I plan on hopefully posting them later tonight. I must say that I am a little apprehensive because I am not confident with the way my body looks right now.

I’m at work now. It’s "Employee Appreciation Week" this week and I just got a very nice 10 minute chair massage! What a perk! Felt great after my shoulder and back workout yesterday! I could go for another 10 minutes or more. I increased the weight slightly yesterday, so I’m a little sore. It’s ok though, I like to feel the burn! It lets me know I’m really doing something! ;0)

Currently, I have been working out consistently (approx. 3x/week)for the past few months at the University Rec. It’s convenient and close to my job, so I use my lunch hour to go work out. Plus, I’m an Alumni and I get a decent, affordable discount on the membership.

I’ve been working out since I was very young, but consistency has not been my forte. I have fluctuated up and down in weight as well as training (basically I get lazy for 3 months or more and then start back again). Before I started working out again, it had been closer to 6 months to a year! And it shows! Yikes! That’s sad, I know.

I am a single mother of three, ages 6, 9, and 11, so it makes for a very hectic schedule. Having the gym close to my job and being able to work out during my lunch hour helps with the consistency.

I must say that I am quite inspired by all the women on here who have had children and have dedicated themselves to taking care of not only their children, but themselves! Way to go ladies! You are looking fabulous! Keep up the great work! I will see you at the top!
