Dealing with failure…

That is the strangest headline to write for someone like me.  Im used to being at the top of everything I do, with the thought that as long as I work at something I always succeed.  EXCEPT when it comes to my fitness goals.  This has been the one and only thing in my life that I just cant seem to win at no matter how hard I work.  I bust my ass in the gym all week and eat super strict to see very little visible progress.  Sure I have gains in the weight I lift, and I can feel the muscle under there.. but I just CANNOT drop fat! It doesnt help that I get all bummed about it and go on eating a buffet and a half to sabotage my efforts….  I have tried so many different methods of eating/working out but nothing seems to help.  I finally am going back to what I did last semester in an attempt to repeat the slow, but sure progress i was making.  I just want to actually LOOK like I go to the gym as much as I do… why does have to be so difficult?? Other people quit drinking a soda a day and drop weight like hot cakes but alas, not me.

All I can say is my motivation is still there, despite all this.  I can only hope and pray that one day all my efforts will show up.  I am also open to any encouragement so dont be shy.  Thanks for listening,

ali

The fact that you still have the motivation to keep going despite not seeing the results you want speaks volumes about your character and dedication, which you should take away as a positive.

Now, if you’re busting your ass in the gym and in the kitchen but aren’t seeing results then something’s off. I think you might want to consider the services of a trainer/fitness nutritionist who can see where the holes are and correct them.

And I don’t recommend your run of the mill trainer at your gym. Personally, with your dedication I’d just find an online trainer who has proven results with clients and can put together a plan for you…I’m sure that you’ll have no problems following a good plan. Another positive thing is that when you work with someone experienced you’ll learn a lot in the process so that in the future you can put together your own training and nutrition plans.

I’ve always heard it’s the last bit that is always the hardest. I have the same problem and I had/have lost motivation. Just keep working on it/don’t give up…good luck

hang in there, Your efforts will overide, and pure determination will win. All you can do is your best, so at the end of the day if you did just that at 110%, then that is all you can do. Failure is expected, and as long as we learn from it, try not to repeat mistakes, then we do prevail as a better person. Look as it as an oppurtunity, ask yourself what can I do different. It wasnt until I got honest with myself that I started growing as a person and in the gym. Keep pumpin, keep strong, and keep all those goals within reach. Good luck and God bless.

I agree with Morillo…diet is usually where the problem lies, its 90% of your success. You may be onder/under eating. Definitely look into getting some help from someone who has experience in bodybuilding nutrition, not just a generic cookie cutter approach.

You’ve got the drive girl, now go get it!!!

A 22 yr old chick, who is intelligent enough to be on a BB site…is not a failure in any sense of the word. I think you need to have a positive talk with yourself.

Our self-talk can be so mean, the negative things it says - and we listen to it!! I agree - I’d get steve78 or one of those trainers and let them design a program for you.

As a minimum I’d like to see you post your diet and I’d like to see a post ot your weekly wo routine. I think if you get those up people can read them and give you feedback.

I think you should start vizualizing yourself - doing anything positive - sweating, hitting cardio hard, being a muscle chick, flexing and your abs are all cut…..all positive things. I believe that the body follows the brain. If your walking around saying "I’m a failure" then the body follows.

Do you do HIIT, do you check your heart rate after cardio, do you do cardio bf breakfast, do you do cardio after lifting??? Do you know about fitday.com, you enter your food in there everyday, a bit of a pain at first but very helpful.

You look gorgeous and you’ve done a fantastic job. You are young and just starting out, be kewl, chill-out. Read, research, be patient. Keep working at it, surround yourself with intelligent people and you’ll get ‘er done!!!!

    Please keep in touch.
