Welcome!

March 3, 2008

It is interesting to watch how people’s fitness goals evolve as they get older.  Most Americans drop any pretense at staying fit as they get older and look upon anyone with fitness goals with either contempt or dismissiveness.  Just look at how much ridicule Stallone endured for taking HGH.  Here is a man in his 60s who is taking HGH so he can do his movies and some people are heralding this as if it is the end of civilization.  Perhaps I am wrong, but I do not see what the problem is with a 60 year old man choosing to take HGH.  He is not hurting anyone, and it improves his quality of life.  How is anyone getting hurt?

There are good things about the anti-exercise phenomenon.  For instance I always find great deals on fitness equipment on Cragslist.  Another positive aspect about most Americans being adverse to exercise is that it is easy to look good comparitively when you are around thirty somethings.  But these are small advantages compared to all of the drawbacks.  I suspect the obesity problem will get worse and that will engender more feelings of envy towards those who work to stay fit.
