Fight Depression With Weight Training!

From Jennifer Nicole Lee’s latest Bodybuilding.com article:

"All of us most know that there are many benefits to weight training. We know that exercise can help fight heart disease, but can it help fight depression?

Studies have found exercise to have both physiological and psychological benefits. A Harvard study once found that ten weeks of strength training reduced clinical depression symptoms more successfully than counseling. This is particularly important for women since they are more than twice as likely to experience depression and only one out of three actually seek care."

    I agree with the value of weight training with regards to fighting depression. The importantance of surrounding yourself with good people for support helps too. The combination of these two is what makes this site so healthy for me! Great article….

    The main reason I workout is to alleviate symptoms of clinical depression. I had worked out before my depression hit, and a friend (eventually) got me back into it.
    IMO, it is easily as effective as any medication or therapy, and probably more so.

    Well im 14 going to to 15 i sometimes fell depressed because of my weight im 5 feet 4 inches and im 130 pound n i fell fat all the time i want to lose weight because sometimes my weight makes me get depressed.
