keep a chin up
I read a blog this morning that put things into more perspecive for me. This blogger was talking about how her spouse and all the people in her life beat her down as far as staying in shape. This really hits home for me. If fact this is the only place where I can get postive feedback on something that I have such a passion for. Thats really sad. I workout in my basement so I cant even bs with gym buddies about diet and exercise. Its tough to stay motivated when everone around you in so negative and lack of understanding. Just because its different than what Joe Public does. Thats what is so great about everyone in here. We all go against the grain everyday for no reason other than to better ourselves. Ive been called a meathead, a poser, and lots of other stuff. Those people have thier own interests and ambitions and I dont knock them for it. I, for instance dont have an interest or passion for surfing…but there are lots of people who do……just cause I dont understand it…I dont beat them down for it. I m just saying that its mantatory to have some type of postive feedback in your life. My wife is disquested by big musclular men, so whenever any noticable gains happen….you guessed it…..I for sure hear about it. I fact thats how I know if Im making progress by her insults. If you are in a similar situation…try to beat down the negativity and keep good influences around you. It makes a world of difference.

Oh dear, I feel you! I just commented on someone’s blog entry yesterday that had the same issue. As a matter of fact, I have written about it in my blog as well. You have a bunch of company out here. My husband loves to call me gorilla and he refers to me as Jerome, the small man! He tells me muscles on women are vile and once he said if I got any more muscular, he was going to vomit on the kitchen floor!! I just told him I didn’t have time to listen to him because I was late for the gym! I have to say humor has been one of the best ways for me to deal with this issue. I even had a baseball hat made with the word Jerome on it, which I wear to the gym (much to my husband’s chagrin)! I also have a t-shirt with a pic of a gorilla on it! The funny thing about it is that it’s the stress relief of going to the gym that keeps me happy and relaxed in the rest of my life. If I stopped (which I have no intention of doing - this is year 17 for me) I just might become quite grouchy with HIM!! Perhaps a good point for him to ponder! Anyway, rest assured you are not alone! Laugh it off the best you can and keep your ears open for the complaints…it means you are doing well!!
