Tough Day…

August 22, 2007

Hello all, Boy was yesterday a tough day. First off, I was in low spirits because of a family situation that we are dealing with. Second, I have been having some crazy tired spells due to a low testerone production of my body (just one of the after-effects of my chemo/orchiectomy). I mean I felt asleep on my feet. It was kinda weird because my brain was saying….’lets hit’em, while my body was saying….’just lay down.’ I think I am starting to understand how it feels to be trapped in your own body…sound mind;  failing body.  All that aside, I found inspiration (actually here on the site) to get-r-done!  Here is what was on the agenda:

(Note:  I decided I would try to gain a little mass so I have lowered sets and reps, while doing less cardio)

Key: setsxreps-weight

 10 min. stretch in sauna

Smith Flat Bench  1×12-135, 1×6-225, 1×1-315, 3×8-275, 1×5-295

1- Arm D-bell Row 1×12-70, 1×6-80, 1×2-100, 3×8-85, 1×5-110

Inc. D-bell Press 1×12-40, 1×6-70, 1×1-100, 3×7-85

Cable Row  1×12-90, 1×6-195, 1×1-255, 3×7-240

Inc. Flye  1×12-20, 1×6-25, 1×2-42.5, 2×15-35

W-Grip Front Pulldown 1×12-90, 1×6-140, 1×2-195, 2×15-180

Machine Chest Press 1xfailure-level 8 (burnout)

Machine Lat. P-dawn 1xfailure-level 8 (burnout)

10 min. stretch in Sauna

Overall a pretty easy day.  Once I actually got in there my blood started flowing and my strength was o.k……glad I went!!

Diet wise, since im kinda massing up, was unmonitored.  basically I ate whatever I wanted all day!  Nothing too bad but not really worth listing.

Introducing………….ME!!!!—(TA-DAAA)

August 20, 2007

Hello there World.  This will be my first actual blog entry of any kind so please bare with me.  I am feeling motivated to x-press myself a little so i guess i will.  Im just a little confused as to where i should start, i mean, you can get my height, weight, etc from my profile….hmm; tisk, tisk.  Anyway, i guess ill start with July 25, 2006– the day that changed my life.  Long story short, I woke up that morn at 4am (normal time) but was having a pain, left side testicle area.  Since i had gone a little overboard in the gym the previous day my self-diagnosis: hernia.  Boy was I wrong!!  After the pain became unbearable about 20-30 min later (and believe me, if I can avoid a doc visit, i will), I went to emergency…ummm, lets say approx. 6am-ish.  The following sequence of events would change my life:  7am-ultrasound, 8am-doc walks in….”excuse me sir, we found something on your ultrasound” (note, im thinking hernia all the way), “your results show a mass in your left testicle.  This is consistent with testicular cancer and we will be prepping you for immediate surgery as soon as we can get an open room.  Any questions?”  WHAT, i was floored because i had always been healthy and fit.  Anyway, by about 2 that afternoon, i was 1 testicle lighter.  Developments over the next few days got worse before they got better.  Found out that another mass was under my kidney..putting me at stage 2 cancer.  Treatment–chemo.  I cant even begin to put that experience into words, i mean, chemo is no joke!  It is very tough on the body and the only thing that keeps u going is a strong mental desire to be well again.  I couldnt imagine how it is for someone with weak mental power struggling through chemo.

Fast forward.  Today I weigh in at 196lbs and i am in the best shape of my life.  Pre-chemo, i was around 210lbs.  Post-chemo, i was 200ish lbs.  Between finishing chemo and being able to function again, I went up to 232lbs, which is where i started my quest to get back ‘in the game.’  Over the following 9-weeks, i went down to 220.  at 13 weeks i was at 212.  At this point I started the Nx Labs 21-Day ‘Ripped System.’  All i can say is…it worked!  I ended at 196 and looking like the pics in my profile.  I will post b4 pics soon, but i was very pleased with my progress.

Hopefully i will keep this ‘blog’ thing up but if not…….It was very nice to meet you!  Have a great life and stay fit!
