this week started out bad for cardio…

AGAIN i didn’t get up for my cardio!  day 2 of this week!!! AHHH!!  i hate to make excuses, but i have been exhausted because of work.  blah.  i haven’t missed a weight session!!  =)  tomorrow is legs too, can’t wait!  i WILL get up in the morning for my cardio, too.  =P

my chest is still sore from the FIRST TIME i worked them out last week, but of course it’s getting better.  i worked my tris really good yesterday.  :)  

i’m not looking forward to doing my monthly measurements/pictures on thursday.  since i had to take it easy for 2 weeks this much, i don’t think there’s been much change.  i can FEEL it, but can’t really see it.  oh well, just gotta push harder for next month, right? ;)

and yesterday made day 2 of being bad…

about not getting up to do cardio in the morning.  =/  i’m def not going to let that happen next week.  i find that when i do cardio in the morning, i have more energy at work and don’t feel sluggish. 

i had back/bi session yesterday and now my back is sore!  babe sure does get a kick out of hearing that i’m in pain. 
"that’s good babe, that means that you’re doing good workouts." 
yea.  i’m really interested in how my second week will go.  i know it’ll be smoother than this week; i know where all of the equipment i need to use are, what weight to start with.  still trying to figure out if i should do cardio at the gym on base or here at my apartment complex.  hmmm… i’ll make that decision next week after i go back and forth with the different places.

well, today is abs.  was planning on cardio this morning as well, so i’m actually on day 3 of being bad.  geez!  but at least i still commit to doing weights!!!  =P

i didn’t do my cardio this morning. =/  instead, i let my body rest and woke up around the same time i would normally get up when i wasn’t doing cardio in the morning.  it felt kinda good to get some extra rest, but i felt sluggish this morning.  took me awhile to get going.

i stretched and did 30 min of abs at the gym after work.  my whole body is sore.  well, i know my entire will be sore on sat since i have back and bi tomorrow.  but still, my chest hurts when i stretch out and i didn’t stretch properly after legs yesterday so my hamstrings were killing me today.  =P

i hope that i’m able to force myself outta bed tomorrow for cardio!

this morning i ended up doing cardio at the gym in my apartment complex.  i got up on time… it’s just after i dropped off genie at daycare, i realized that i forgot my workout towel at home.  =(  the gym on base requires that you have a towel to workout.  so i drove home instead and hopped on the elliptical in the gym at the complex. 

i actually think i like it better there.  the fans are going and kept me cool while i was struggling to push out 30 minutes on the trainer.  my muscles are more sore than they were yesterday.  i stuck to it though, pretty damn proud of myself too.  i like doing cardio in the morning.  i feel good at work afterwards and i get that feeling like i can’t keep still.  =P

i went to my physical therapy session late today because i forgot my shoes at home.  i got out late and didn’t get to the gym to start my workout until about 1620.  i was feeling pretty good with legs, started out at 30lbs for most of my sets.  leg curls, extensions, 70lbs for hip abductors both ways…. squats.  oh man.  i only did the weight of the bar and my knees were shaking so bad by the end of the first set.  i ended up cutting my reps back from 15 to 10 for the 2nd and 3rd set and for my last set, i decided to add 5lbs on there… yea.  just made my knees shake even worse.  =P

i finished up my session with gluts and seated calf raises.  oh, and the guy was there AGAIN today!  staring again!  i was just starting out and was going leg extensions and he was on one of the smith machines working biceps i think… i would look in his direction because my buddy jones was doing pull ups right in front of me and i’d catch him hardcore staring.  i told babe that the guy’s starting to freak me out.  o.O  i can only hope he won’t be there tomorrow, but i have a feeling he will be.

day 2 down… blah….

i almost didn’t get up this morning.  the alarm went off and i hit the snooze and laid back down in bed.  i thought, maybe i should just go back to sleep and then i’ll make up my cardio session after work?  thankfully i was able to get my ass up and out of bed! i didn’t want to, but i did it.  my body was really sore, mainly my quads and chest.  yea.

all of the treadmills were full so i opted for the elliptical again.  my plan was elliptical on lifting days and treadmill on non lift days, but it’s ok.  i’ll start that next week after i’ve got the flow of my workout schedule.  the 30 min on the elliptical kicked my ass, though.  i was FEELING the burn in my quads.  i almost quit after 15, but kept pushin it!

after work i did abs since i didn’t do abs yesterday.  i decided to change around my workout sched while i was at work and do abs sessions on my nonlift days.  it went pretty good IMO.  the only gripe i’d have to say is this guy that stared me down yesterday was there again today…. staring again.  i don’t know, i just don’t like knowing he was staring.  eh.  oh well.  he is cute, but that’s it.  dan’s way hotter.  :D

well, that’s all i’ll write for tonight.  i got legs to do tomorrow! :eek:

weights in the afternoon…

i went back to the gym after my physical therapy appointment this afternoon.  i have about 5 more sessions of pt for my knees and i’ll be finished and now working out, my knees will (hopefully) not experience anymore pain. 

today was chest and tris.  i was supposed to do abs there as well, but i had to cut it short since i had to pick up my daughter.  yea, after today, i’ll be asking my dad to help me out so i can spend more time in the gym on the days that i lift.  i decided to be a hardass and try 25lbs, 4 sets on my first workout; butterfly.  bebe put together a routine for me so i did my best to stick to it (go in order).  first 2 sets went by smoothly, but i couldn’t say that for the last 2.  i was struggling!  so the rest of the work outs i knocked it down and stayed around 15 and below. 

my tris are sore right now, to the point of shaking when i reached up just to wipe my nose!  yea.  i’ve been away from weights for 2 years, so i know what i’m in for for the next couple weeks.  lol  i know of course it’ll be worth it though.  i just can’t wait to start feeling the strength come and the results show.  oh man!

Day 1

Monday, August 20th, 2007

oh man!  my alarm went off at 0500 this morning and i did not want to get up.  i am guilty of hitting the snooze button, but only once.  i was so tired this morning because my fam bam had a bbq at my apartment complex yesterday and we didn’t leave until 2000!  yea.  thankfully i didn’t have to drive home or anything, but i had to rush to get my daughter showered and in bed.  that girl, i swear!  lol  she didn’t want to leave the pool at all!  thank goodness she knocked out right away.

i dropped her off at 0600 and made my way to base.  i don’t know what the heck goes on in the mornings, but everytime i’ve tried to come on base around 0600, there’s a long line and some kind of hold up at the gates.  i didn’t get into the gym until about 0620 or so.

setting 4 for 20, 5 for remainder

felt pretty good getting off.  i say that now, but i know i’ll be feeling it tomorrow when i get back on again. =P  i hope my session this afternoon goes well.  chest, tris and abs today.  oh man.

almost there!

monday is around the corner!  i’ve been keeping up with my light work outs at home, body weight only type of course and my stretching.  coming to this site and seeing what other people have accomplished really helps get me goin!  i’ve been putting together my playlists for when i start going to the gym on monday.  my vision improves by the day, but nothing drastic.  my left eye is blurry still, but i’m seeing about 20/40 still there and 20/30 in the right.  i have to remind myself that i had a pretty strong prescription and that it is normal to not see 20/15 right away.  i guess i’m so impatient because i’ve heard from so many other people that have had prk that they see better than ever, 20/15 so i’m expecting it more.  =P

i have my song i need for cardio, a playlist for stretching and a playlist for weights.  one song for cardio?? yea.  only one.  it’s over an hour long.  LOL  the only thing my ex bf was good for was introducing me to DNB (drum and bass).  yea.  i have a song from the sub bass reflex crew that uses a lot of my favorite dnb cuts, keeps me going. 

 

i find myself rather intrigued with the forums here on bb.  well, more intimidated is the word i really should be using.  since i’m new to working out and dieting, i find myself lurking mainly through the misc sections.  i don’t really feel right posting with anything work out related since i know nothing but what i try and read and what the mister tells me.  of course i feel that the best advice given is what’s worked for you, right?  not something you’ve read off an article because you don’t know if it really works.  and then of course everyone’s different.  being that i still need to test out my work out strategies and the routine that dan created for me (thanks babe), i’m still learning. 

anyway, i’m just rambling so i’ll end this post here.  can’t wait to write about my first day back in the gym on monday!

one more week…

of resting and taking it easy and then i can hit the gym.  i can’t wait.  i’ve been doing workouts at home, but gotta follow the doc’s advice and not do anything that’ll get me to start sweating.  =/  hey, if it’ll help my eyes heal and my vision come back quicker, i’m all for it.  i just hate that i’m so ready to get to the gym and i have to wait.  it’s ok though.  gives me a chance to get my work out plan, put my playlist together.  =)  gotta have the right beats to keep me goin, right?

my vision is getting better each day, still blurry far away.  up close is great though.  it’s amazing how i can read thngs, see the keyboard, for example, without needing to put on glasses or anything.  i just can’t wait until i’m healed and can see FAR AWAY clearly.  =)

still recovering

it’s been 3 days since i had PRK done on both eyes.  I went in monday morning for the procedure and have been taking it easy.  monday and tuesday i didn’t feel up to doing any kind of work out, but i still managed to stretch.  yesterday i did some leg lifts, crunches, squats, and stretched afterwards.

the eye surgery was quick, painless, and the results were instant.  my vision going in was about 20/400 and when i went in for my check up on tuesday, i was seeing 20/50.  once the inflammation goes down and they take off the contacts tomorrow, i should be seeing a lot better than that.  my right eye was under the laser for 27 seconds and the left eye for 30 seconds.  after the laser, the doc rinsed out my eye with cold saline solution and when he finished, i could see clearly!  it was amazing.  i will never forget that experince.

recovering has been up and down.  i don’t geel any discomfort like i did mon and tues, just my eye lids don’t want to open and feel heavy at times.  since i can’t drive anywhere myself, i’ve been chugging oj like crazy since vitamin c helps with the healing process.  i find out tomorrow if i can drive. 

can’t wait for this week to be over so i can slowly start getting back to working out.
