It’s been 7 months since surgery and feeling about 80%. Took measurements of the quads and realized I had lost 1.5". How depressing, but I’m starting back from the bottom and working away at it. Nothing more humble than losing it all again.

With the coming of winter the hardest part is prying myself from the warm bed and in to a cold truck, but I have to. Today is one of those days. Being hit with 10"+ of fresh snow the desire to go do my morning cardio weighed heavy on me when the alarm went off. I did make it up and I did push through the snow to get to the gym….only to realize that in the haste of the snow I had left my gym bag sitting on the kitchen counter. F&%K. Now I have the hurdle of driving all the way back and making it to the gym. I think I’m gonna use my off day today and have a good hot breakfast (egg whites, oatmeal, and a banana). Besides my body needs the rest.

Some days you just drag yourself to the gym, you push to come in 1005, but the body just won’t budge. This is going in for the long haul. Once you finally break the thresh hold of the gym and start the routine your body starts to pick up and the second wind kicks in. Thats the day I had today. Feeling as though this would be a horrible work out I knew that I had to at least get my ass in the door. From set to set on pull-ups my body felt that like a ton of bricks. By the third set I felt pumped and charged. Like "The little engine that could" I started pushing through the sets and weight. My mind zones out with each beat in the head phones and I feel like a god. Before I know it it’s been past and hour and I feel as though I could go all night. I need to stop before I over train, so I reluncently hang my straps up and walk to the truck. I’m in it for the long haul, choo choo.

Every night as I lay in bed to fall asleep I drift off to sleep with the thought that tomorrow will be the day of reckoning. Tomorrow I will hit the gym like it’s the last day for me to lift. This does not mean that I don’t carry the intensity everyday to 110%, but that is only possible by setting that bar a tad higher each day. Tomorrow I will do one more rep, 5 more pounds, or one more mile. So I lay there drifting away, eyes become heavy, and the lullaby of iron on steel sends me to the sandman. Oh yes tomorrow will be harder then today, tomorrow will hurt more than today…Tomorrow will be a reckoning!

Thank god, I’ve finally broke through the plateau I’ve been stuck at for the past couple of months. It took everything I could think of but finally broke through. I know it’s not much, but at least I feel like I’m growing again and not just running into a wall and maintaining. To everyone else just keep pushing through, you might get discouraged, but don’t give up.

Every week School takes up my time on Tue. and Wed. But Thursday I’m back in the gym. Thank god, Even though it’s only two days I get so anxious to get back in. It’s like I’m addicted and I need my fix. It really does not matter if it’s just 45 minutes of cardio or a big hour leg session I just don;t feel the day is complete till my foot steps into the gym. To everyone else keep up on the progress and work hard, ZIG

For those of you in the west, try and find a store called the sunflower mart. Stopped by one today while running around town and their prices are great for produce. We all know that we need the nutrients and most of the time protein is cheaper then produce. Well these guys have a great selection and so much cheaper. A weeks worth of produce usually costs me $100, but I was able to get everything I needed for under $70 and that includes mostly organic. Just my 2cents

Got a set of those strongman grips and I love them. Only had them for about a couple of weeks, but I know they will help. Should help bring up those forearms us tall guys have trouble growing.

So I am a regular at the local pho’ restaurant near my house. Anyone who isn’t familiar with pho, it beef broth with spices thin sliced flank, briskit, and tendon. Along with rice noodles, freash herbs, and sprouts. It’s good and it’s cheap…well it’s also loaded in sodium. I didn’t know how much sodium till I looked it up on mastercook and it has around 2,500 mg per 12oz. Holy sh!t, looks like the pho’ will have to wait.

Oh jeez, it’s that time of year again. Saturday games and beer with friends. I’m not gonna make the same mistakes I made last year and drink too much. I’m sticking to my goals this year, no nachos, no chips, no pizza…dammit I won’t fold.
