Ripptoe’s words

July 4, 2009

"Most of the problems with the bodies and minds of the folks occupying the current culture involve an unwillingness to do anything hard, or anything that they’d rather not do. I applaud your resolve, and I welcome you to the community of people who have decided that EASY will no longer suffice"

Mark Ripptoe on CrossFit

I love it. I love the community. Motivating eachother to break the normal globo gym workout. Functional workouts.

Motivated to Win

May 31, 2009

Just got done watching "Every Second Counts" The documentary on 2008s CrossFit Games. After watching it I am motivated to be there next year. Chris Spealler is an inspiration. A 135lb badass competing against guys 60lbs+ more than he, and still kickin ass.

Leaning out

March 22, 2009

Well its that time of the year again to start leaning out. I was not able to gain as much weight was I would have liked to before I started leaning out. But I feel that if I wait any longer I wont be able to lose as much body fat as I want to before pool season. Stand by for progress pics.

Triday

April 15, 2008

Since I cant do any upper body I decided to start to prepare myself for my future endeavors in hell. So I came up with "Triday". Heres how my day went.

Go to bed at 3:30am

Wake up at 7am and register for a 5k run around parts of downtown Denver  (Time)21:24

then go and swim for an hour using only CSS. Drive home eat

Then it was on the road bike for a little over an hour to the firehouse

I felt great afterward, still had alot of energy, gotta step it up even further next time.

Hopefully one day BUDs graduate.

My Diet and Ab workout.

April 11, 2008

I have been asked numerous times how I got my abs I decided to write this post (however I would rather hear it from xnick edgex,  that guys’ midsection is rediculous, he also has a great post to read on his program.)

Anyway, I think 80% of a great looking midsection is done in the kitchen, then rest is done in the gym with some weight training and cardio. You could have the biggest strongest abs, but if they are hidden by fat nobody will ever know.

My diet is very simple and very plain, I eat many small meals, I eat till I am about 80% full. Which means I am always hungry. It takes alot of dedication, and their are a few trick that are out there to help ( I will go over them later). I also eat very little carbs after 5pm. Like I said my diet is basic, this is what I do, other may do it different, find what works for you.

Breakfast: Protein shake, usually 25g protein, one with very low calories. and then any one of the following.: Bowl of oatmeal, 6 egg whites or 4 egg whites with pieces of chicken.

Lunch or Dinner: Grilled chicken breast, Turkey sandwich wrapped in lettuce (no bread), 2 cans of tuna, 2 pieces of tilapia fish.

Side dish or mid meal: Brown rice (side dish),  bowl of broccoli, salad (no calorie dressing), baby carrots

Other mid meals: protein shake, 1 can of tuna, small amount of oatmeal.

Small things to help you eat less calories:

Slam a big glass of water before every meal, eat slow, if you feel a craving for something bad or want to eat again before its time brush your teeth, or use some mouthwash it will curb the craving

Thats the 80% the rest is done with ab workouts all using weight such as weighted leg lifts, situps, cruches. and oblique workouts.

then 30 min cardio, I also do other activities through out the week such as hockey, hike, rock climb, road bike, swim.

Hope some of this helps, it takes discipline.

6 weeks, No upper body. THIS SUCKS…

April 9, 2008

So its been 6 weeks, I have not done any upper body and it shows.  The Doctors are thinking that it could be a Distal Bicep tear or really bad tendonitis. Either way it will probably require surgery. I will know more after my next and final MRI on Tues. They are also going to be taking a look at my shoulder, that too has been hurting alot. I cant even do a pushup. This getting ready for BUDs is killing me. I wonder what the actual thing is gonna be like???

At a crossroads

April 1, 2008

I am still nursing a few injuries. I am currently in New York and I have told myself I will take some time off. I have a Doctors appointment when I get back to see about surgery. But it sucks… I hate feeling like I am doing nothing. I have been able to do cardio at least, but I think we all know how much just cardio sucks. but at least its helping me for the future.

No longer sick. But…

March 16, 2008

Well I am no longer sick however I still have tendonitis in my arm and some pain in my shoulder, plus I hurt my knee snowboarding, so my cardio has been limited. But spirits are high. I am still training as hard as I can on whatever I can without hurting.

IM SICK.

February 24, 2008

I have been sick for the past week, and I have tendonitis in my bicep. It has not been a good week. I have not been in the gym at all either, it sucks.  Hopefully I will start feeling well enough in the next few days to make it in and start slow, I dont know how the tendonitis is going to be though.

The only easy day was yesturday
