Ego Training

It finally got the best of me…It’s been a long time since I’ve been in a situation like this and it SUCKS! Yep you guessed it, I’m sitting on the injured list for a few more days.

Now I’m probably one of the biggest preachers on lifting smart and preventing injuries while lifting. I guess I forgot to check my ego at the door before i stepped in the gym the other day. My buddy and I where blasting arms really hard the other day getting an incrediable pump! and we were fininshing up with incline seated curls. Now I normally train with a belt at all times because it helps me keep my mid-section real tight throughout my workout. During our reps my training partner was trying to push me to go hard than what I already was…Now normally curl 45’s is no problem for me, but at this point of our workout I was already toast and I swear my arms were going to explode!

Well, being the hard core gym rat that I am I put down the 35’s and picked up the 45lb DB’s (smart, right?). And I got 4reps on each arm with great struggle and I was pushing to hit one more rep! Because as you know, there’s always room for one more rep :)   Well I continued to curl the DB’s at the same time and arched my back more and more until I felt my back start to spasm from the terrible form I chose to do. Well, trying not to admit my pain we capped off the day with cable curls. I really felt the pain with every curl but I was determined to fininsh the workout (Did I mention I forgot to check my ego at the door?). I was 426 days injury free and today I’m back to day 1 off being injury free. After a few motrins, tiger balm and plenty of cherries I feel pretty good but I’ll take an extra day or two off considering how hard we lift. No need in re-injuring my back again….

New Goals New Day

Well it’s time to revamp my personal goals :)

This time around I plan to stay as lean as possible while bulking. I joined a flag football team to keep up with cardio since I haven’t really been motivated to do any cardio at all. It’s funny, we’re al old high school super stars running around the field talking trash and telling each other how good we "used" to be. Hahahahaha. Good times :)

My body is so beat down that my partner and I decided to take 2days off instead of just one…this day off is MUCH needed!

Old Skool

Chest Day – I finally have a training partner that is worth something! Man, I haven’t pushed myself this hard in years! I also haven’t had a training partner that lasted longer than a week in years!

 

Anyway, on the pump, we blasted chest today taking a page from the late great Vince Gironda. His theory of bench pressing is amazing to say the least. He suggest that you bring the barbell to you neck to fully work your chest instead of bringing the bar to the middle portion of your chest. Also, this style of training prevents you from killing your joints! Why? Because 135lbs feels almost like 300lbs!!!! Doubt it? Give it a try. I also found that using the smith machine prevents any cheating, injury and you target the chest much much better.

 

We started with incline hammer presses, moved to incline BB presses, then we pressed it out on the smith machine Vince Gironda’s way! To top the beating off we hit cable flys with an underhand grip pulling the cables from the lower portion of the machine….Yea we were toasted. I plan on staying as lean as possible while putting on mass, I won’t play myself thinking I can throw on 60lbs of meat like the pros in the offseason..lol  I’ll stick to gaining 10-15lbs and try to stay solid and some what cut from there…

Back to eating clean

I never knew how free you can feel after being on a very restrictive diet! wow, well I’m back to eating clean, lowered my protein intake to 180-190g, carbs nearly double that and fats are moderate. It does feel good to have an option now, I limit breads and or pastas to maybe once a day (if that).

Not too sure if I will use any supps other than protien and creatine…Those seem to be the two effective supps I notice. Others have a slight affect but nothing that is worth $60+ a month!

Krispy Kreme

What? Did I just say that on the nets biggest bodybuilding site??? Yup I did it! And I’ll do it again… Krispy Kreme Krispy Kreme Krispy Kreme Krispy,    Kreme.com,      Krispy Kreme.net,    Krispy Kreme.org…. Krispy Kreme Krispy Kreme Krispy Kreme

 

Hahahaha. Just kidding. I hate Krispy Kreme…Well I hate it for right now, I’ll probably love it again in the near future, but  let me tell you real quick about Japans Krispy Kreme store. We were in Tokyo visiting and we decided to visit the famous doughnut shop. Well first of all to our surprise there was a HUGE line wrapping around in the front of the bldg! We were pissed! But, we were hungry…Hunger always trumps any other emotion. So we wait in line and the Japanese workers were screaming something in Japanese (I couldn’t understand them) and every few minutes people were raising their hands…Soon I felt left out so I started raising my hand when the majority raised theirs…Ya know, do what the Romans do kinda thing. Well after an hour of standing in line we got our 2 dozen boxes of doughnuts! We were so excited we sat down in front of a building across the way and started chowing down! Well, we forgot that eating outside in public is a “No no” in Japan so we got plenty of stares…But sh*t, who cares, we had Krispy Kreme! Haha.

Well after indulging in 3 sugar packed doughnuts I was sick as a dog L it sucked!

Never again Krispy Kreme, never again….

Back to the Gym

Well today I start back hitting it hard again! It’s back day and I finally have a training partner. Hopefully my buddy will keep up and stay awhile…For some reason I can never keep a training partner longer then a few weeks.

 Train Hard Baby! Huuah!

New video

I finally posted my posing routine on my profile, come check it out!

Right now I am currently eating clean and bulking with fruit and veggies…of course plenty of meat! My mother in law is out here visiting and she can’t believe how much food I eat and how frequently I eat! lol

I honestly think I eat decent portions, I just pile my plate up with veggies so I don’t over do any carbs and or protein at any given meal. I guess the illusion of veggies makes her eyes pop out at my plate :)   This year I will stay lean and try to add some quality mass without all the extra fat. I also plan on dieting 20weeks out next year…I won’t diet so hard that I start tapping into the muscle but I will diet hard enough to be much more ripped than I did for this last show. I can’t complain, I was in the best shape of my life and I’m extremely motivated to shred down next year!
