BF VS. Lean Muscle

Well, I got my BF% checked on Friday…not too terrible. I put on 1/2 pound of lean muscle and a liitle under a pound of fat in 4 weeks. ($#@% bulking!!) I’ve been averaging around 1 pound a month (lean mass) so it was hard to see the drop, esp with the added fat!! Once I looked through my workouts, I saw where I could push a little harder and heavier. It’s been hard getting out of the mindset of 15, 12, 10, 8 reps for each exercise. Gotta lift heavier with less reps!! So that’s my goal for March. I’m thinking 12 rep warmup and then 6-8 reps for three sets. If I can get 8 reps, increase the weight! Did that today with my back workout and I’m really feeling it! Whoo hoo!! Still taking the Cellmass and will continue the whole cycle (12 weeks total) so hopefully that will help. I see some of these other bulking photos(Good job, everyone!!) and I’m like so jealous!! That’s OK, just makes me want to work harder!! Can’t wait to start cutting in April!! Psyched!!

That’s definitely the right attitude. Too many people just keep doing the same thing over and over again…if it’s not working, change things up a bit.

    That’s cool! I’m definitely stuck in a 15, 12, 10, 8 mindset. :)

The bulking phase is a difficult one. Good luck with yours. Your head is in the right place. You should reach those mass gaining goals.

Yeah, I, too am in the middle of upping my weights and lowering the reps. I find it to be very frustrating… definitely know how you feel! Keep at it!

Husband is going to be bulking next week - he asked if I wanted to join in…

He says it will make it much easier for me to put on the lean mass that I need… but it’s so close to Spring and Summer! I just don’t know if that’s something I could handle - pschologically.

For me, the best part about doing the warm-up set of 12-15 and then 2 heavy sets is the time it cuts out… less time on each move = more variety per workout for me. I do love that — but if only some of my puny muscles could handle the heavy weight.

On cable triceps extensions, for example, my warm-up set nearly burns them out! Then I up the weight and burn out on at #4… argh!
