Roman476BC…another idiot!

August 13, 2009

I…
Want to lick your tummy :P
I decided to copy what the other ladies are doing and post  inappropriate comments that are Pm’d to me. How many times do I have to say it?!! I am a VERY happily married woman!! I’m on here for motivation from others and hopefully for others!!

Learn some manners!!

So tired and sore!!

July 23, 2009

Yesterday was INSANE!! I normally teach a VERY high-intensity spin class in the evenings followed by a core conditioning class. One of the trainers went on vacation and asked me to cover her morning cardio step class…"no, problem" I say. THEN another trainer called in sick and I covered HIS class (my average HR during that one hour was 170…Yikes!!) I taught a total of four classes…and I am ow, ow, owing!! An easy 2000+ calories burnt!! And STILL had to wake up and teach a total body conditioning class today!! I’ll be a lean, mean fighting machine before ya know it!!

IT WASN’T A PIC OF ME!!!

May 29, 2009

So I was out-of-town last week, not checking my page, and when I returned, I had a new profile pic of some girl’s butt posted as mine!! AND I was banned for it!! I don’t know what happened but luckily I was able to get unbanned and FINALLY change the pic back to me. It was pretty frustrating, esp when I look at the Top 6 and see butt, after butt, after butt! I understand the rules (and abide by them…I think this was just a computer glitch on BB.com’s site but changed my password just in case) but come on!! I have no problem with most of these pics, some are very beautifully done, but BB.com needs to be consistent. Either allow ALL the ladies that choose to express themselves this way, or ban everyone.

My rant for the day :-)

Good news and Bad news: DVT update

March 20, 2009

First of all….Thank you to all who have sent the well wishes and encouragement to me these last few months! You guys are the best and I appreciate each nice comment!! You helped me keep my motivation up during an extremely stressful situation and I can’t thank you enough! I’m sorry I didn’t comment to each and every one of you who spoke on my blog…it was crazy just keeping up with my PMs and regular comments!

So, anyways, here’s the update…the clot from Hell is now disappearing…yeah!! Testing yesterday showed my vein now has blood flow through it (although it is just a trickle) and is shrinking at a fast rate! That’s the good news. The bad news is that there is irreparable damage to the vein. I am now diagnosed with Chronic Vein Insuffiency. At this time, a bypass is the only thing that could help (and that’s not a sure thing). There is only one doctor in the entire US that does the procedure, which is at the Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis. My paperwork will go in next week to see if it’s a possibility. ***Sigh*** More surgery, so not what I wanted to hear! BUT looking on the bright side, I am out of danger of the more serious issues.

Competing will obviously be put on an indefinite hold (swelling/ varicosity issues) but my diet and training will not be put on hold!!  I am maintaining my weight with good clean eating and cardio/yoga/weights.  Right now, I’m about 125-126lbs with a 20-21% BF. I am continuing to increase my activity level as I feel better and hopefully will see a drop back under 20% by the end of the month (that’s my immediate goal!)  My last BF testing showed me at 18% (October…1 week before surgery) so that’s now my end of April goal.

So many people have health issues and allow themselves to put on 20, 30, even 50 pounds (!!), which is INSANE but I was determined not to let that happen! Whatever I could do, I did! And I was on bedrest and minimal activity for a LONG time!! Torture LOL!! Simply put…NO EXCUSES!!

Again, thank you all for everything and, please, stop in and check on me from time to time!!  It means the world to me!

Back in the Weight Room!! (DVT Blog Pt 2)

January 17, 2009

When thinking of a blood clot, most people think of a small mass around the size of a coin. My original tests showed massive clotting around two (2) FEET (!!!) in length; stretching from my calf to my thigh. Fortunately, even though my calf area is still completely blocked, I have blood flow throughout my thigh and FINALLY got the OK by the doctor to start exercising again!! I still have some swelling I need to monitor (and may always have it) but it feels so good to have “my life” back again. I am also still on the Coumadin until at least March/April, maybe longerL I’m not out of the woods yet and may even have surgery in my future, but things are looking up!!

During my “off” time, I only put on 4 pounds, but I feel I lost a lot of muscle. It’ll take some time to build back up to my original intensity (esp. cardio-wise) and I’m pretty deconditioned but I’ve already been hitting it as hard as I can!! Right now, I’m pretty sore from hitting chest and back and it’s a great feeling!!

Anyways, as I was leaving the doctor’s office on Thursday, I looked up, and a huge rainbow stretched across the entire sky!! Talk about signs!!

Thank you all so much for the kind words, prayers and encouragement. It really helped me to stay positive throughout this!! And a special thank you to my husband and family especially when I was all depressed and grouchy!! Sorry it took so long to update my blog!! Hope everyone is having a great new year so far!!

Still Positive!!

December 1, 2008

DVT, Deep Vein Thrombosis, deep blood clot, possible complication of a pulmonary embolism. All scary words but no intense workouts for THREE MONTHS (!!) , that’s even scarier! !

So, yes, 1-½ weeks ago, I was diagnosed with a DVT. And put on bed rest to minimize chances of the clot dislodging and traveling to my lungs. My right Femoral vein was completely blocked causing swelling and pain in my leg. At the time, things looked pretty bleak and I didn’t handle it well.

However, the day before Thanksgiving, I had additional tests that showed that although the clot did move, it stopped in my upper thigh and is shrinking!! I now have some blood flow (not much but I’ll take it!) and much less pain and swelling!! So I had a very thankful Thanksgiving!

Unfortunately, I cannot continue my “bodybuilding” training for three months. I was put on a twice-daily injection of anti-coagulants the first week and now must take Coumadin (also an anti-coagulant) during the three months. While I am on this medicine, I must wear a medical alert bracelet. I can’t shave with a razor (electric is OK) because if I nick myself, I could bleed for hours! I even have to brush my teeth with a soft bristle toothbrush to protect my gums. Just the slightest bump can cause intense bruising, and any cut or head bump means a trip straight to the ER!!

So, although I must put my regular training on hold, I’m still planning on lightweight full body (minimal legs, of course!) training three times a week to maintain what I’ve built over the last six months. I’m not sure if I’ll be ready for the Bbshow in May but I am still going to eat and prepare for it!!

So, a setback (to say the least!) but I’m not going to let it get me down!! When life throws you lemons…blah, blah, blah!! LOL!

“Wow! You look GOOD! So different!”

October 2, 2008

It always amazes me how people from the gym react to me when they see me in "real" clothes! Hair fixed and loose, makeup on, cute outfit, ect. When I go to the gym, I …yep, you guessed it….SWEAT! I work out hard and my hair is wet, greasy, and pulled back, the little makeup I do wear in the gym is sweat smeared, I have gym chalk all over me, I probably STINK(!!), my gym clothes are faded and worn out from umpteen million washings, not to mention the wierd exertion faces I make when I lift! So, no, I don’t look the greatest when I work out. But when others see me out in town, they compliment me so profusely, I wonder…"just how bad do I look working out?"  Oh well, just my thought for the day!

TEN!! HaHa…ten, ten ten, ten!!!!!!

June 3, 2008

FINALLY got  ten pullups!! No sh1t, full hang, all the way up and all the way down REAL pullups!! Yay, me!! This accomplishment means as much if not more than losing the weight. I was on cloud nine yesterday so I strutted my bad self (tongue in cheek there, people..LOL!) to do deadlifts. Yeah, baby! And, boy, am I paying for it today….OW!! Now the reality has sunk in…."Oh, crap. That’s means I HAVE to do ten each time." Yikes! But still…I did it! TEN!!!!

Overtrain much!??!

April 30, 2008

It’s going to be a full day of training! First I have yoga training, then my regular hour-long shoulder workout. Next(in the evening) I teach a step aerobics class AND right after a spin class!! Thank goodness that’s not a normal day!! I started back teaching aerobics/spin two nights a week (4 total classes) and have really been burning some calories! Unfortunately, I’ve been eating them too. I’m trying to lean up but still fuel my workouts so I have enough energy…all without putting on more FAT!! Yoga is a new addition and a definite challenge. I’ll be attending Yogafit level 1 (my gym is paying for it!!) and hopefully willl have my certification in it. It’s not my "strong point" but I’m always up for the challenge…just don’t ask me to stand on my head!! (At least, not yet!) Happy training!

The Last Supper!!

March 29, 2008

Ok not really but I ate my last fat-filled, artery clogging "I’m bulking so it’s ok" meal. And it was GOOD!! (Cheese enchiladas, a big ole margarita, and for dessert…..Cold Stone Creamery!! Yup, I’m a glutton…LOL!) I’ve been keeping to a fairly clean diet during this phase (other than a few "treats" here and there) and I wanted a last hurrah before the cutting phase. Hopefully, I built some quality muscle the last few months. I’ll go Friday for BF testing and will post the results…wish me luck!!
