The Mind And It’s Effect On The Body
The mind and body are two of the most amazing things in this world, and the mind is what tells us what we can’t, can, and won’t do. A positive mind is key to a healthy lifestyle. When I step into the gym, I feed off of the energy of others and step back and take a glance at who is pushing themselves as far as they can go. I look at the guy on the bench putting up 305 on his 8th rep with all of his strength telling himself he can do it!..and he does. I look at the smaller guy curlin 50 lbs on his 10th rep saying to himslef "C’mon, c’mon! If you put your mind to it and psych yourself up to push it to the next level, you got it! If you say your going to do 10 reps on the chest press at 175, know you can do it, and will do it. Do not let failure be an option. I find that when I am on the last rep and pushing that weight as hard as I can, I tell myself I can do it and will do it, I think about how hard I’ve worked to get to this point and push that weight. It’s all in the mind, and if you stay positive and pro-active, you can achieve anything.

This is so true!! Mind over matter. The word "can’t" should not exist because if you believe you can, you will achieve success. Determination and a positive attitude are keys to achieving any goal.

great write up, I definitely agree with you on the mind-body connection. visualization provides that extra bit needed to achieve your goals (which you don’t seem to have a problem meeting- heh.).

Indeed you are correct, and you are the perfect example and symbol of what the mind can achieve once harnessed by will.

"If you put your mind to it and psych yourself up to push it to the next level, you got it! "
Last Summer, that’s exactly how I got a bench of 315lbs. Psyched myself up, and pushed it.

dang true, when i was first starting to body build i would do around 60 lbs of dumbbell bench, then got "dared" to try 90’s, i did it the EXACT amount of times as i did the 60’s all just from getting forced to tell myself i believe i can

"To have what you’ve never had you must be willing to do what you’ve never done"
That all starts between the ears, and feeds directly down to that muscle beating just left of center in the chest.
If you believe it, it CAN & WILL happen. There is magic in believing.

Good article. I’m a horrible runner, but I’ve been getting ready for my first 5k. Last week, i pushed myself to run 2 miles. Last night though, with encouragement from a running partner and a really positive mindset, i managed to run 6 miles! I kept telling myself "i will get to this point" and when i got there, i’d say "ok, now i will get to the next point" eventually i was actually saying outloud "i WILL finish another mile."
stay posi!
