FRIDAY, JULY 31, ‘09: DELTS, TRICEPS, BICEPS, SOLEUS (POWER-DENSITY)

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Our favorite workout of the week, so we got a little carried away and went long again. We’ll have to reduce and combine some exercises at next Friday’s workout, as overtraining is looming with our lower calories, lower carbs and extra cardio (see Summary below)…

WEDNESDAY, JULY 29, ‘09: QUADS, HAMSTRINGS, LOWER BACK (POWER-DENSITY)

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

We’ve been getting an exceptional pump and deep ache from our quad routine–especially since adding lunges–so we decided to leave that part of the workout as is; that means something had to change on hamstrings, so we flipped the order on leg curl variations to finish…

TUESDAY, JULY 28, ‘09: BACK, FOREARMS (POWER-DENSITY)

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

We’re trying to do something new for at least one bodypart at every workout. Today it was upper traps, providing residual shoulder work as well (Cable upright rows)…

MONDAY, JULY 27, ‘09: CHEST, CALVES, ABS (POWER-DENSITY)

Monday, July 27th, 2009

We needed some kind of minor tweak to our chest routine to better attack the inner middle area–and we got that be using dumbbells instead of a barbell on bench presses. That gave us extra range of motion and new fiber-activating prestretch at the bottom of each rep…

Today’s workout ran a little long because we experimented with some new techniques, like a stand-alone static-contraction set to end delts…

WEDNESDAY, JULY 22, ‘09: QUADS, HAMSTRINGS, LOWER BACK (POWER-DENSITY)

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

We’re officially moving from the 3×10 Density technique (in 10×10 style) to 2 high-rep burnout sets with a one-minute rest on most of our big midrange exercises–today we made that change on Hack squats and Hyperextensions…

TUESDAY, JULY 22, ‘09: BACK, FOREARMS (POWER-DENSITY)

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

One minor change can lead to big gains, so we decided to flip-flop our first two back exercises and use two high-rep burnout sets (a la Arnold) instead of 4×10 on the second…

FRIDAY, JULY 17, ‘09: DELTS, TRICEPS, BICEPS, SOLEUS (POWER-DENSITY)

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Delts are one of our slow-responding bodyparts, so we were psyched to hit them hard today. Beginning to see a hint of vascularity on front and lateral heads, so that fueled the motivation fire…

WEDNESDAY, JULY 15, ‘09: QUADS, HAMSTRINGS, LOWER BACK (POWER-DENSITY)

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

It’s our shortest workout of the week, but leg day is always brutal. Due to a motivation surge, we made it even more excruciating today with an ending pre-exhaustion supersett for quads…
