HELP…..I’m on the verge Clean Eating Suicide!!!
I need some advice, encouragement, or anything anyone can offer. I am seriously frustrated and ready to call it quits. I know that sounds dramatic but this plateau with up and down elevations is really kicking my butt and killing my motiviation. I have been battling with the scale for over 2 months now. I can’t seem to break out of the 160s.
In June I weighed 164. On August 23 I saw some hope when I weighed in at 157. Then on September 29 I was a little disappointed to still see 157, but happy not to be look at 160 something. Well, I just got on the scale and I felt like throwing it out the window when I saw 168. What the……..?
I have been eating clean and working out but the numbers are going up not down. Ever since I moved I have had a difficult time maintaining a consistent workout schedule but I do try to get in 2-3 days a week (sometimes all cardio, sometimes all strength). I use to workout at least 5 days. I eat 5-6 small meals (complex carb/protein) a day and I allow myself 1 or 2 cheat meals on the weekend (which is nothing new). I drink water like a elephant throughout the day.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Today I sat at the table with my co-workers and watched them gobble down barbeque pork, chicken tenders, Texas toast, potato salad, cole slaw, chocolate brownies, and sodas. I choose to eat my salmon, whole wheat pasta, and Koshi granola bar. I was proud of myself then , but right now I am feeling like I may as well indulge since all my hard work has stopped paying off. I mean I see a little more definition when I look in the mirror but these numbers are driving me nuts.
Being 225 pounds again really scares me and I cannot let that happen, but I am feeling very defeated. What am I doing wrong? What is my next step? Can someone give me some advice?

Are you doing your cardio, and maybe check your homones , take some fat burners, or just see a nutrionionist.

You may have gained some lean muscle and not fat which is a good thing. But if you pack it in now all your work will be gone, and trust me its deadly hard to get a routine going once its stoped for a few months. We all suffer times like this but its the ones who don’t give in that reap the rewards in the end.
I know if I binge on junk it feels good at the time but you always feel like s**t afterwards and wonder "Why did I eat that"

You just continue what you are doing. You are doing great. Might I suggest switching gears: however, and if you have no blood pressure problems look at taking supplements to help you reach your goals. there are many out there but for I believe VPX Meltdown maybe the answer. If you continue your diet and working out at least 4 days a week with cardio everyday at the end of your workout, you should see great results within 30 -60 days. Do not give up keep pushing an dyou will do great…

You have to be patient. I’ll share with you what I have learned on this site and have shared with others–throw your expectations out of the window. The minute I decided to focus on being consistent and training hard everything fell into place. And when I look at the BIG picture I have averaged about 3-4 pound loss per month. And I have gained alot of muscle. Stopping now is only going to infuriate you. You have made progress. You identified in your post some of your challenges– like not working out as often. You already know what you need to do.
Imagine how you are going to feel this summer if you call it quits now. Do you want to write a ’starting over blog’ or a ‘dang, I look and FEEL really good in swimsuit blog’?

Throwing that scale out may be the right solution, in all honesty! The best thing to focus on are the inches, not the weight. With the workouts you’re gaining denser muscle as well as some bone density, ideally. Focus more on how clothes fit, how you feel, energy levels, etc. Weight really means little in the short term and will come off in the long run. Couldn’t hurt to track your food for a few days to a week and see if portions are a factor, too. Lastly, if your workouts have been the same for a while, change them up.

The goal here is to increase your metabolism you can do this in a combination of ways depending on what your goal is. I will just take a stab at it and say your goal is to have an athletic physic, i dont know your body and you do but this is the road i would travel in creasing my cardio adding 15 min to each sesion 5 days week, then i would lower my carb intake to 10-20g per meal then i would add 1 more meal just enough to stimulate your metabolism also remember the more lean body mass you have the more calories you will burn. And stay off that scale its a motivation killer take progress pics. This is just a suggestion. Your doing great! NEVER GIVE UP!
