Basic Building Blocks

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

I see many people using those fancy machines. I have no problem with machines, but then those people complain because they have made no gains. My theory, which is only a theory, there are basic building blocks that must come first. Essentially all parts of the body can be worked with free weights. Take chest, for example, the core lifts are flat and incline presses, and flyes, incorporate these and success will be yours. I have been working on gaining some mass and that said I try to forget machines until I have completed the core lifts for that body part. Then, if you feel like messing with machines, which you should not because you worked hard on the core lifts get after it. This one is for you guys who do 20 sets of abs for core strength, think about dead lift pull some heavy weight up off of the floor and keep your torso straight. Those abs will be strong as steel along with your back and plus dead lift is useful. How do you pick something up? You sure do not lay down under it and bench press it up. Any way the message is if you really want to make some progress put the bread and butter lifts first and play with the toys last. Peace and work hard.

Life is good.

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Recently my girlfriend come up and stayed with me at my house in Starkville, for a couple of days. I had a chance to carry her to the weight room. After seeing me eat right and trying the food I ate she had more respect for my endeavors in bodybuilding. She has a complex that I work out to get women, but I really do not. The trip to the weight room showed her that I do not go to impress, only to get better. I do not throw around heavy weights and try to draw attention. I work hard, I sweat, I strain, I bite my tongue. I even make ugly faces, that in no way impresses women. For the most part they like Fratboy social lifters, not the guy straining his gut off to pick up 315 for 6 reps. I was glad she realized this is real and not some kind of show. Well this new found respect she has found for my lifting and dieting has made things so much better. Change of topic. Cardio is going good and staying on my diet too. Still getting stronger on lifts every week. I even used 205 on incline for reps. As they say in CB lingo Im gonna bump it down one more time to say good bye and good luck because life is good.

Red Lights

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

On the way home I realized there are many red lights between me and home. Yet when they stop me I dont forget where I am going because if I did I would not make it home. I thought this is like life you must complete the task and get to the destination even though there are things that stop you along the way, and if you forget what you are going for then life is a waist and you wonder aimlessly around and wonder when you are 40 what have I done with my life. Same way with fitness Red lights slow you down, but they cannot halt progress for ever. Dont forget where you are going because after a while you will wind up there.

Put the blinders on

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

To obtain a goal you must have some type of tunnel vision. Lately I have been away from this great sport but I got back to the gym today. It was great I have never felt better and I enjoyed every minute. Today I picked my load back up and put the blinders on. I am aiming on being better.

Until next time work hard.

Lower back and ab training

Monday, November 13th, 2006

I never understood the importance of lower back and ab training until here recently. Every since I started including good mornings and hyperextensions my other lifts have become much better, especially on bent over rows and squats. Dont forget the abs like me, I always called that the pretty boy excercise for those in the gym to impress the ladies. Yeah you know the ones that play on the balls and mats for two hours. Well I am not saying be hasty with ab excercises, but when you start getting one good lower back workout and one good ab workout a week you will notice a drastic change or I did at least. Everything this week is good for me and training is intense just how I like. So until next time keep working hard. Peace.

College Life

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Life is good in college, but college would definately be better without classes. Hey life goes on. Changes are becoming more apparent everyday that I work out and do cardio. With that said, moral is high in the Wolf camp. I have a new partner that is pretty tough and I believe that my old partner, Cotton, has completely forgotten about working out. I started out at 220 pudgy soft pounds at the beginning of this year and now I am down around 195 and pretty solid, but my body type leans toward wanting to carry extra body fat. So I am trying to work hard to get down to around 10% and stay. Well thats it for this week. Stay strong.
