Pet Peeve ~ gym toilets

:-p Honest this post isn’t that graphic!

Not sure why it bothers me, and maybe I’m the ONLY one who’s noticed (ladies help me out here!) butt (pun intended)…….

Seems to me most toilets in ladies rest rooms have one thing in common (ok, more than one, but bare with me), the handle is always on the left side (if your facing the apparatus).  So it’s become habit to complete your business, reach behind with your right hand, and flush.

NOT SO AT MY GYM!  the handle is on the opposite side of the toilet!  WTF?  really?  now, maybe in the grand scheme of things this really isn’t a serious issue. But, I am a habit of creature. And my habit is to unconsciously push the flusher (wait, is that a word?) with my right hand.  I’m having SERIOUS issues using the toilets at my gym :-p  I’m at the point where I’m checking all the toilets in various ladies room at places I visit (work, friends homes, restaurants, bars) and yet………..my gym is the ONLY place I’ve found where things are not as they should be.

Hhhmmm, maybe I should spend more time in the weight room than in the ladies locker room :)

I’m lefthanded, but wipe with my right and flush with my left.

It’s the European way, like when you use a knife with your right hand and a fork with your left.

The things I learn on this site. Well Deb, I guess you could train yourself to hold it. Or stop drinking water, even during hellacious cardio.

    It’s so good to be a guy…….. :D

At least you flush which is more than I can say for SOME women at my gym… ick

Thanks ShanBL…I feel a little more cultured and sophisticated knowing I’m flushing the European way :)

Al ~ I do indeed envy men for that reason! and bite your tongue about not drinking water! Sharlott would yell at me :-p

I have to agree with Al. I have learned some really cool stuff today about cleaning machines (Janellerific) and toilets. It’s great to be more cultured. have a great weekend.

True true. And I’m not one to steer someone in that direction. I drink tons of H2O, and spend half my day going back & forth to the restroom. So I guess you’re gonna have to learn to hold it young lady…….LOL

I flush public toilets with my shoe, and always with my right foot (since my left foot is less coordinated.) So… never had this problem. :)

Damn, I’ve already done my workout at the gym for today… now I have to wait until tomorrow to see what side the handle is on!!

  9. mrinkysplaytoy Says:

I am also a shoe flusher… :) so I guess the frustration doesn’t apply to me. And ditto Im_Ready, women complain about men and the seat up, but not flushing and splattering is A LOT worse….eeeewwwwww!

  10. macavely Says:

maybe you should do what most men do in public restrooms when using the bowl .. flush with your foot. Finish, Whip. Stand up Zip up and lift your foot up and press the handle down with your foot.. Also help you from touching someone else Stuff in case they made a mess.

ROTFLOL…thats funny. I’m with the rest of the shoe flusher crew. I’m also bothered by the fact the gym I go to doesnt have automatic flushers!
