Thanksgiving and Pull-ups

November 22, 2009

Well it’s Thanksgiving week and I’m looking forward to a couple great meals with my family and the wife’s family.  I’m gonna eat like a pig and probably gain a few pounds but that’s OK.  I’ll get back on my eating routine by Friday. We have so much to be thankful for in this, the greatest country on earth.  I would encourage each of you to take the time and give sincere thanks for what you have.  Don’t just be thankful on Thanksgiving though, be thankful year round.  I recently bought a set of Perfect Push-Ups and I like them so well that I bought their companion Perfect Pull-Ups Friday night.  I’m not usually one for promoting a product but these things work great.  My arms are still sore from using these gadgets Friday night.  They don’t cost much and I think they work great.  My weight has slowly started to go back up some.  I can’t see much in the belly so I’m thinking it has to be some muscle gain.  I wish I could gain muscle fast as some of the guys do but I’ll be happy if I can gain at any pace.  Oh, before I forget, I’m really thankful for all my friends I’ve met here on the BB site and I hope you all have a great holiday.

Vacation at home

October 27, 2009

This has been one of the best weeks I’ve had in a long time.  My wife and I finallly sold our previous house after it was on the market nearly 2 years.  That was a big relief off my shoulders.  This week we’re just hanging out at the house doing fall chores and just relaxing enjoying the beautiful scenery around our new log cabin.  Life’s great!  Today I worked in the basement all morning making more room in the dungeon for my weights.  I’ve been hitting it pretty hard lately and I think I’m starting to make some progress.  I thought I was too old to gain any muscle but looking in the mirror has proven me wrong.    I owe all my success so far to my friends on this web site.  I thank you all very much….you know who you are.

change

September 25, 2009

Today I decided to no longer be grump….The name has never really fitted my personality so I ditched it.  Wind Dancer doesn’t really have any special meaning, I just saw it on a street sign and liked the sound.  I’ve really been getting in some good workouts the past couple weeks.  A lot of that is because it’s rained every day and getting outside is not practical.  My personal life has really improved this week.  My wife and I finally have a contract on our house we’ve been trying to sell for about 2 years.  Sold it twice before…both fell thru.  If this one sticks then that will be the biggest load off my shoulders ever. I know I ramble a lot but I type what pops in my head at the time and at my age I have to put it in words before I forget.  I have really upped my protien now and am trying to gain some muscle….don’t want to look like a freak, just noticeable.  Keep watching and I promise you’ll see some change….You may have to wait 50 years but the change will come.  We are now entering a great time of the year.  The leaves are changing here and hopefully the sun will shine and I can get out in the woods and enjoy the mountains.  I get a lot of hiking in during the fall and winter months here….Don’t have to watch for snakes.  Later guys,  Chris

Change is coming

August 5, 2009

Well for the past month or so I seem to be stuck at 182lbs….I can see change in muscle size and my stomach is getting flatter.  Abs are not visible yet so any ideas how to get this done would be appreciated.  My diet has changed radically this year thanks entirely to advice I have recieved from friends on BB.com.  About 6 months ago I was really feeling down, both physically and mentally. I started eating as reccomended by you guys and now I feel great.  No more joint aches, no headaches, no nothing.  Just feeling much better.  As for my looks, I know I’m no hunk but I do think that I look a lot better than I use to.  My weight training is usually 2 days per week, sometimes 3 depending on how sore I am.  At my age it takes longer to recover than it use to. I’ve started jogging regularly for my cardio and riding bikes with my wife a couple times per week. My jogging is approx. 1 mile per day…not far but you should see where…up to the top of our mountain and back and it’s pretty steep so I really get a good cardio workout from that short a distance.  Our biking is done on the Greenway in Boone NC.  It’s one of the best biking/walking trails I know of and we have a lot of fun there.  I can’t begin the express my thanks to all you guys who have given me pointers to help me out but I really do appreciate all the advice.  Keep an eye out and you’ll see the changed me that is slowly but surely coming about.

how my journey is coming along

May 17, 2009

Well, I’m not sure exactly what I’m suppose to do here. I think maybe write how my journey is coming along.  Twenty plus years ago I was much younger and in great shape.  Never had huge muscles or visible abs but I was pretty strong.  Then a family came along with things always to do with the wife and kid.  Never seemed to have much free time so I sorta slacked off with my fitness goals.  Only once in awhile would I train.  To make matters worse, I’d eat like a pig…..I could eat anything I wanted and drink all the soft drinks I could hold….Never had any issues with weight until maybe the past 5 years or so.  Now my body has started to feel the aches from the years of abuse so Jan. 1st. I decided to change. I have several friends here who have offered good advise and I have lost from 208lbs. on Jan 1st to 186 today. Have had some success with my aches and pains too.  I have commited myself to eating better and getting more exercise for a healthy lifestyle.  If I can do it anybody can.
