Stubborn Fat Anyone?

Monday, March 24th, 2008

God I`m so tired of dealing with stubborn fat areas, like waist and lower back in my case. I`ve tried everything like low carb, cycle carb diets and 7 hrs cardio a week, you name it and I`ve already tried, either diets, supplements, training… Apparently those bloody A2 receptors are the cause and no matter what I do I can`t get rid of that last bit of fat. Is anyone familiar with a therapy called "Ultrashape" in which they fire ultrasonic rays at you for 3 hr sessions or so and destroy the fat cells in the stubborn area? I tried something similar in the past but am not sure if it would have worked cause I didn´t finish the treatment. Any other idea will be very much appreciated! I know, many people will tell me I`m overexagerating and I don`t have much fat. I know it`s not a lot, but bodybuilding is about improvement and taking care of every small detail, so what it would be very good for an average guy could be mediocre for a bodybuilder right?

Thanks guys ;)

WORK VS GYM

Monday, February 11th, 2008

I`m pretty pissed off! I´ve been applying for jobs now for some months without finding a proper one. Now I found one good option and it´s very likely now that they offer me the position. The job is good, but I live in a city with a lot of traffic and it takes me a lot to get there, and the ones who would be my bosses told me they use to work 12 to 15 hours! plus the time spent in the traffic jam when am I supposed to work out? I´m really trying to figure out what to do and how to make both things work for me, but for Christ sake it´s not human! On the other hand, it seems a bit irresponsible to let the job go…anyway, just wanted to say I´m frustrated :(

January`s Crowd

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

Do you guys notice how in January gyms get so crowded? of course, people want to start the new year with the right foot and make all kinds of commitments. Sadly, I`ve been seeing the same thing happening for 20 years and then by easter the gyms get back to having just the regulars. In December the opposite happens, even some regulars skip workouts so the gyms are pretty empty.

I wonder if it`s the same people in January who commited last year the ones I see now, or just new people who will be quiters by the end of the year, and I think that`s just sad. I wish for them that they could achieve their goals at the gym, I really do. But I know better, and can`t avoid some times just looking at them as just obstacles taking my space. Yesterday it was even hard to find an empty machine to do cardio, which wouldn`t be annoying if I didn`t know that their days are counted. Anyway, just thinking out loud, and thinking I`d be glad to help more people to stick to their commitments cause they will probably feel awful when they quit, some even end up hating the gym and people who attend regularly…anyway…

Vigorexia? what a bunch of crap!

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Someone just showed me an article about Vigorexia, "The descease of bodybuilders" telling things like how we completely lose sense of reality by torturing our bodies and how we are never satisfied with the results and how we end up all alone and isolated from the world because of our lenghty gym sessions".

My fisrt reaction was to feel annoyed, but then I analized it like for 2 secs and had to laugh my a.. off.

I don`t see the effort at the gym or eating healthy food as "torturing my body" I don`t see how building bigger muscles, decreasing fat levels, improving your cardiovascular health, speeding up your metabolism etc etc would be harmful!

2.- As with every activity in life that you`re trying to master, you improve with time and effort put into it. Speaking in bodybuilding terms, It`s ok if you can bench press 20 kg in your first week ever, but after a year, you`d feel very frustrated if you are still benching the same weight. Same goes for your looks and as you become more and more proficient in an activity, you raise the bar, that`s just logical isn`t it?

Now, your standards are not those of the regular guy or gal who doesn`t exercise. You don`t compare yourself with an average Joe to see if you look good; you use bodybuilding standards to measure you progress. Sure enough, Joe judges you under his standards and thinks you must be nuts! how come you`re on a diet? you look great! it must a be a descease right! a mental one…hmm see how it doesn`t make sense?

I don`t isolate myself because of the gym, I actually invest 2 hrs a day, five days a week, not enough to isolate myself. The thing is that your alcoholic friends (exfriends?) miss you at the bar and they think the gym is killing your social life; they don`t see that you now have healthy-athlete friends that share your lifestyle and that`s fine and I ask, who`s are doing something harmful to his body anyway? I don`t think alcohol, cigarretes and a sedentary life is healthy….perhaps these guys are the ones writing about how mentaly ill we are in the time we are working out! can you imagine them holding their beer and a big mac writing about us? how pathetic is that? really, they should get a life! :)

“Bodybuilding is a Psychological Trip”…

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

…Arnold said once. And I couldn`t agree more. It`s been a while that I`ve been studying how the human mind works and how to apply that knowledge to bodybuilding and life in general for success.

It is fact that the mind is a very powerful tool; the problem is that it can can be powerful both ways, to help you or to harm you if not used correctly. And the thing is, the mind is not easy to understand, didn`t come with a manual, and it`s not user friendly so indeed some training is useful.

I`, planning to write a book about Neuroscience applied to bodybuilding/sports. Neuroscience is just how our nervous system and our mind work. I won`t pretend to say that neoroscientists know all, man is very far from that, but there are some things they have found that are very useful.

Don`t you hate books that give you a lot of good information and tips,  but that are difficult to apply in real life? it`s been said that "information is power" but it`s not. Information itself is nothing until you use it, it`s different knowing than applying right? that`s why I`d like to research with bodybuilders and use their experience and actually put all this into use. I mean I`ve used all this myself and it`s been of great help, but I like to help others with these techniques and document everything and then I`ll have a hands on approach book.

Don`t know exactly the format, but you`re very welcome to participate with your thoughts, experiences and ask for my advice if you`re struggling with something, I`d be glad to help.

What do you think? comments will be very much appreaciated ;)

Will

My Programme

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

I chose a programme consisting in completely controlling he negative movement of the exercises. Basically I take 2 seconds on the positive movement and 4 seconds on the negative. I use as heavy weights I can for 15 reps and I rest 1 to 1.5 minutes in between sets. This should give me a deep burn and attack the muscles in a different way from the usual one. Remember that muscles respond to variations; once the get used to something they stay as they are, so you have to force them in different ways to make them addapt.

Still one hour cardio per session and under 100 grams carbs a day. Five days split with 2 days rest in between. Let`s see how it works ;)

Change of Programme

Monday, November 12th, 2007

Today I have to design and change my new training programme. Since I feel I`m not quite there, it`ll again be design to geting ripped and lose extra fat. It`s not a lot of fat, but it`s the difference between looking good and looking absolutely fantastic! hey, that itself is a great motivation, isn`t it? more about that later…

Day 14

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Today was the official end of my diet but I`ll extend it with a slight change: carb cycling. That means you have higher carb, low carb, and near zero carb days. I love this diet cause you don`t lose energy and still get the fat burning benefits. I posted some ics of my progress in my gallery, do check `em out ;)

Day12

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Now yesterday was one of those difficult days in terms of energy; I felt really weak, dizzy and nauseated, so I took it easy and slowed down. I did finish my workout, that`s really not a choice, but I came back home earlier to have an extended rest. Today is also rest so that`ll help me to feel well by saturday when I come back to the gym.
