Why all the hate?
Whay all the hate from people when another person is trying to eat and be healthy. it just doesn’t make sense. You would think that I am dealing drugs to minors with the look I got today for not eating certian food.
Today I went to the annual "Empowering Latinas Business Luncheon" representing my company. For the lunch they served a salad, a piece of chocolate cake that was at least 3 lbs (no lie), and some chicken covered in cheese, stuffed with chorizo and something else. Now I love my latin/Hispanic people and I know that I was definatly in the minority at this event. All I ate was the salad and the chicken after I scraped all of the choriz out of it, as well as take the cheese off. A year ago, heck prior to 1/1/2009 I woudl have tore that up but not today. All the people at table looked at me funny. Comments like "Oh Mr. Goodbody can’t eat like us mere mortals" or "are you serious going to eat like that, this was 50 bucks a plate?" My answer is yes and yes. Everyone at my table was overweight, but made fun of me for trying to make a change for myself. Don’t they now that in the latin/hispanic and african american community obeisity runs wild? Why all the hate? to quote another comedian "Feel free to hate on me!"

OOh it is so true! Happens all the time. It is just thier way of showing they have no self control and even self respect. Back off the healthy people! Kudos to YOU!

Good on you!! I know the feeling when everyone looks at you crazy because yhou chose the healthy option. Stick with it!!
March 19, 2009 at 4:23 pm
i feel ya i know just where you coming from .Trust me you are not the lone ranger.riddle me this why do people love you when you are in the same situation as them?if you think i’m playing just tell people a bunch of lies and gossip they will listen all day long. How ever tell the the truth and see how quick the room clears .as soon as you change your situation away from what they are acustomed to . they turn against you.hmmm….i guess that saying is really true its lonely at the top

Oh I totally know what your saying. Hey we make our own decisions and at least we’re making the right one!
Take Care

I think people without the self control to stick to a healthy diet get insecure when they see someone eating right. They make jokes and try to tempt you to lose control because deep down they know you are stronger than they are. They don’t want to see us succeed because then they would feel like failures. It’s sad how you become a minority since most of the population is overweight. Seems like the whole world is out to make us fat! Stay strong and be proud that you are doing something that most people can’t.

Who cares what other people think. Everyone hates it when your will power is better than theirs. If I listened to people I would weight 300 lbs. It is just normal for people to cave in and I am happy to see that you did’nt. Great Job !

my man -no progression comes without some struggle and usually that comes from others who who upset because they struggle to obtain progress so they try to knock someone who has the motiviation to do it…..stay focused and channel that in the gym….

lol i love it "feel free to hate on me"
all these jealous people should just focus their jealously and hating on something constructive like trying to get better than you! lol

Here’s what I say when people tell me aren’t you gonna eat that??? It’s paid for!!! :
If someone gave you FREE heroin or cocaine, would you take it???????
that shuts them up!!!
March 25, 2009 at 6:54 pm
The way I look at it is that if you are hating on me, then I must be doing something right (or at least on the right track)
April 3, 2009 at 9:36 pm
They are hatin’ cause they are jealous. They only wished they had the will power to put the fork down after 1 small bite of cake instead of gobbling down the whole thing!! What we have is a dedication that others do not understand. If they knew where we come from, how hard we work, the results we desire and achieve they’d shut up and maybe they should try it! Nah - they are too lazy!!
Stick to the chicky!!

Hahahahaha… Jealousy! that’s all it is.
Keep at it!
They want to look like you, but just can’t help binging on bad food. Just ignore them - the only person you can control is yourself! So good on you for standing by your guns - er… pardon the pun

Good work, man! I struggle with my eating habits, especially when it comes to sweets. It takes a lot of dedication to NOT eat tempting (bad) food thats been placed in front of you.
If you keep up that clean eating, even when the food you have isnt exactly "clean", youll reach your goals in no time.

Good for you Whoohoo! I’m battling the same thing. Everyone puts you down when you’re trying to be healthy…I don’t understand. People should be high fiving us, not making fun. They’re just jealous.
p.s. I love chorizo…it’s so delicious but I haven’t eaten it in years!!

I am Latino and I am from Texas. I get this ALL the time! At work in the Break room there is nothing but Sweets, Soda and Candy, every other day is somebodys Birthday..Meeting,.. .or something where people need to fill the Void with food! They always give me S**t for bringing my lunch and drinking my shakes and never partaking in their fat fest. Stay strong and don’t break…..

I completely understand. I had a similar situation happen to me where I was eating clean at work and had lost about 15lbs. People were constantly complaining about the smell of my food which happen to be lean cusine’s for the most part. I was monitoring the sodium content at lucnh when a co worker states to me that is why she does not eat the frozen dinners because of the sodium content. At the time she was eating a chicken cheese steak sub. She wasn’t concerned with that sodium content.

Props bro for sticking to your guns. America eats like crap, but you never know when someone will quietly pick up on your example. Keep it up!
April 20, 2009 at 9:52 am
You’re so precious (as are they). Just keep setting a great example. For every person who’s annoyed by what you’re doing, there are many more of us who love and support you.

Misery loves company, I guess. It’s our social climate. This mentality crosses over into many areas.
"If I can’t look good, then NO ONE should look good."
I think it applies economically as well: If you’re successful (even - *GASP*- rich!), people think you are cheating somehow - it’s not FAIR!!!!

PS: I saw this banner thing a girl had posted on myspace or something. It said:
"Jealousy is a disease. Get well soon, bitch!"
Brilliant!
May 13, 2009 at 10:56 pm
I know exactly what you mean. It’s the same thing as wearing an underarmour heat shirt and people make comments about having a tight shirt. Then when some skinny guy (no offense) wears that type of shirt its like nothing is wrong. Yes, they are hating in both aspects deep down in side. I guess eating right and staying healthy is taboo to some.

I found that when I started telling people I knew that I was intent on starting to live healthier again, they took it as an indictment of thier own choices. It didn’t whether it was family, friends, coworkers or my girlfriend. It was as though they were intent on sabotaging me for making the decision to make better choices.
I think that people don’t want to see you making the choices that they know they should be making. I finally got to the point where I would throw out the things they tried to give me while they were standing there. It pissed them off, but they gave up eventually. It does really give you a good idea of who will support you and who won’t.

I agree, unfortunately most won’t know unless they themselves are part of this "minority". What helps me is the remembrance of God that he himself most appreciated us to be in good health, good will, and of good morality! None of these must be taken in the sense of materialism or self-image, though. Salaam Aleikum my brother, may peace be granted on you by God!

I think it’s not hate, but they are jealous that someone can be that strong inside to say "no"to all the unhealthy food. It’s not easy to do that with all the temptations everywhere.I believe that everyone would like to be healthy and look good if that will be easy.Just keep on doing what you want and don’t care about what others say.
