A word to the haters

Friday, November 20th, 2009

HATE ON!! I have a couple of facebook friends that made a mockery of a ststus that i wrote about training for the beach. One said how much training do you have to do to lay down a towel and lie in the sun. The other said some other stuff and it was all back and forth with the jokes. However while I let them joke away, i’m continuing to work hard and get it done because it’s people like that that fuel my fire to work that much harder. Instead of getting upset though, i’m thanking them. They woke me up from my dead sleep that my body has been in for the last few days and I hit it harder than i have hit it in weeks. On top of that the Job interview was this morning and it was a really positive interview. Still need prayers though that they make the right decision and hire me so keep those prayers going, oh and one more thing as I prepare for a glorius football weekend…To all the haters, Keep hating, sometimes a little negativity results in a ton of positivity.

I Don’t Wanna See That!!

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

When i’m at the gym working out or at the mall or anywhere in town, i’m so sick and tired of seeing guys walking around with their pants hanging down. You are not making a fashion statement by showing us your underwear or your bare a&&. Do you honestly think you will ever land a job looking like that. Its not a fashion statement idiots!! Let me explain to you what that symbolizes. I worked 10 years in teh Florida Correctional system. When inmates wore their pants that way, it symbolized to others that they were available for a rendevous if you know what i mean. Now pull those things up and maybe you won’t look like you can’t walk for s***. Keep it out of the gym and anywhere else for that matter

Low on energy but still going at it

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Yep i’ve come to that time in my workouts where the body is tired but I find a way to fight through them. I may be coming down with a cold or I maybe just not giving myself enough sleep but i have been really just going through the motions. I’m not fatigued or anything like that so i know i’m not overtraining. But I’m just tired and not really giving 100% as of late. But hey at least i’m finishing as i’ve learned its not always about finishing strong, sometimes its just about finishing. Hopefully i’ll snap out of it real soon. I’m gonna get a little more rest today and get some more fliuds in. I don’t know if I’ve reached a plateau or what but it gets disturbing when these things come along. I have legs again today but I am in NO WAY shape or form in a position to do that massive 10 x 10 i did last week. Anyway I must still DO WORK!!

Baby got BACK!!

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Or will have it if i go at this pace. I didn’t train my back a lot until i really got serious about training the total body a few years ago. Well as you would guess it was sort of a struggle with the deadlift but yesterday i performed a 1 rep max just to see where I was on it and to my surprise did 325. Now I don’t know what that is on the strength scale but it’s awesome for me so now i’m inspired to train even harder on my back from now on. And on another note I switch to the T-Bar Row as oppossed to the bent over barbell row and i’m already feeling stronger doing that. So I can’t wait until I see how my back develops now because like my legs i has been a hard place for me to make gains but then again I never really trained it seriously. Oh and on a side note, I have an interview Friday morning for a full-time job so keep me in your prayers guys because if I get the job it will be very vital to me beginning my professional career in the fitness industry. And since I’m celebrating this occasion I just thought I would leave this video with you guys from the best white dancer in the business JT.

Do you consider yourself an athlete?

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Well it was a great weekend. Great football wins by Florida State finally, and the Dolphins, and watching the Patriots lose. Although i am waiting to get the memo from Satan telling me that Hell has frozen over because both Cincinatti teams, college and pro are at the football center of the universe and USC is actually getting their heads served to them on a silver platter by Stanford. As I was watching some of these games, I was wondering because i have seen some of these football players train and they look like they could walk on a stage and win a posedown. I also see that these guys have unbelievable agility balance and coordination. I will begin studying soon for my Personal trainer certification with 2 organizations, NASM, and NSCA. The NSCA part is actually gonna be centered on sports performance which usually parlays to a career as a strength and conditioning coach for college and professional athletes. Now from some of the ways I train, a lot of it is similar to the way I trained in high school when i played football. I follow some of the same nutritional patterns and do a lot of the training exercises i did to put on weight and gain strength. And i’m back to doing a lot of training that involves explosive moves and agility, something we called conditioning in high school, but we in the fitness world know as HIIT. Now given this info and looking at what you do with your training, do you consider yourself and athlete? Just something i though would be a fun question to ask.

Is it time to put the milk down completely?

Friday, November 13th, 2009

I usually don’t drink milk unless its with a bowl of cereal or when i’m making a shake and then it’s only fat free skim milk. But after reading a blog about the dangers of milk because of lactose, I can’t help but wonder if Milk is just getting a bad rap altogether. I’m gonna decide to stick with it because it hasn’t done anything to adversely affect me and unless someone tells me something different i’m still gonna assume it does the body good. I’m leaving a link that i looked at and after reading it, I’ll let you decide. In the meantime it will still be the main ingredient in my protein shakes and in my occasional bowls of cereal. Oh and of course I will continue to DO WORK!!

10 x 10 on legs…Totally Insane

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Today i did a little tweaking of the legs and man it was crazy. Out of the clear blue I decided to do 10 sets of 10 on all of my leg exercises yesterday. I guess for some reason i just feel like going all out on leg training. To me there is not a better pain than the DOMS you get from an intense leg workout. Now crawling back up the steps to the house is not fun but a few days afterward and you feel and see the legs develop is awesome fun. Maybe I should try 10 x 10 more often. Now i have to go and set up an ice bath and sit there for about 3 hours…. Just a small price to pay for being spontaneous. DO WORK

Squats 10 x 10

Leg press 10 x 10

Leg Extension 10 x 10

Leg Press 10 x 10

Calf Raises 10 x 10 heavy

So It’s HER fault?

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Yesterday I was listening to this radio show and the hosts were discussing Rihanna’s interview with Diane Sawyer about her abuse from Chris Brown. What happened next was astounding to me. They allowed opinions from callers and a lot of these callers were women. This is where it really got disturbing to me. Most of the women said that Rihanna needs to just let it go and everyone should get off of Chris Brown’s back and give him a second chance for his mistake. My mouth dropped. I could not believe the backlash that these women were giving Rihanna. Have we gotten so insensitive and uncaring as a country that we don’t even know how traumatic physical abuse is? No wonder so many men get away with doing this and their wives go back to them, because we have no one willing to defend these women against these a $ $ clowns!! I mean Chris Brown was given oppurtunity after oppurtunity to tell his side while Rihanna said nothing for the last 9 months since this happened, yet society is willing to blame this on her. I’m gonna tell you this. I dare ANY man to put his hands on any woman that I am closely related to, friend, family or otherwise. If you put your hands on a woman, YOU ARE NOT A MAN, YOU ARE A COWARD and you aren’t bold enough to fight another man. And I have NO problem saying that I will go to jail if I have to to make sure you don’t put your hands on another woman. And for you women that are dogging this young lady or any young lady that goes through this….SHAME ON YOU!! Ok now i’m off my soapbox. I may post something about training later on but I was so pissed listening to some of these opinions yesterday that i had to go somewhere to get this off my chest.

Hurricane coming through. WIll have to workout later

Monday, November 9th, 2009

As we are talking, I have to evacuate and get up to a friend’s house in Alabama. I have done a few calesthenics early on but after seeing a the weather report this morning, Hurricane Ida is on the move and set to make landfall by later tonight. So being that i’ma Florida native you can never predict these things so i’m getting on the road before everyone panics and crowds them up. In any case, My workout will have to come at the gym up there. Hopefully there will be no rainfall up there for a few days. I hate to miss workouts but if I have to miss today’s then it won’t be that big of a deal but so that you will have fun with it you can play this video.

Say your prayers, take you vitamins, kick some a$$

Friday, November 6th, 2009

I remember as a young kid watching wwf wrestling at the time, I would always hear Hulk Hogan remind us to say our prayers, take our vitamins and kick some a$$. Well I say my prayers and try to kick some a$$ in the gyn as much as i can, but realized that i really need to start taking my vitamins again. Yes as we get older our muscles get sore a lot more and our heart doesn’t pump as strongly as it used to when we were younger. So with that in mind I went to the Vitamin Shoppe and got me some Omega 3 for my heart and glucosamine and chondroiton, because believe me the more muscle mass we pack on the more strain we put on our bones and joints. And i must admit that even though i was getting up early and going at it full throttle in the gym, i was waking up in some pain and it wasn’t the soreness from working out. I’m already feeling better. Later on i’m gonna research vitamin packs on here to see what is the best. If any of you already take some, feel free to give input on what you think works best. And like Hulk Hogan used to tell us waaay back in the day, Say your prayers, take your vitamins, and then kick some A$$!!!!! With that in mind I have to post this.
