What do you think of this?
This is a video of a 5 year old kid that is ripped to shreds. Now while this kid will never have to worry about being bullied, i wonder if this is too early to start a kid bodybuilding. Obviously he didn’t start this year so i’m wondering if his father isn’t taking a huge risk in his son’s long term health? I probably would not do it. My nephew who is 7 goes comes and messes with my dumbbells that i have at home but they are the 5 pounders. He is forbidden to even look at the other ones. I’m gonna post the video below and want you guys to tell me what you think. When would you guys start your kids to lifting? I want my kids to be healthy but in their very early stages i think i’ll stick with the push-ups and sit-ups.

I’ve seen a video of him doing 30 hand-stand push-ups! Amazing but sad, too…..

I saw this this morning too.. Those backflips are amazing, I’ve never seen a kid do anything like that.
I remember my dad ‘allowing’ me to lift weights when I turned 12 I think. I think I got a Hulk-a-mania workout set, which came with an audio tape of Hulk Hogan leading you through a workout and saying things like "OK Little Hulkster!… Eat your vitamins, say your prayers,… etc."

if you are impressed with that 5yo you shoudl so Check out: Richard Sandrak, also known as Little Hercules, is a Ukrainian-born, American bodybuilder, martial artist and actor, renowned for his physique at an extremely young age. He is probably best known for his appearance in the documentary The World’s Strongest Boy
THIS KID WAS AMAZING!!!!!

I like the idea of letting kids do exercise with their own bodyweight until they are in their teens. My 11 year old comes to the gym with me and we do cardio together. While I lift, he does pullups, dips, crunches etc. That being said, that little boy is impressive…don’t know about the long term issues. Little Hercules said his dad was mean to him and made him lift….that’s obviously not good. Now if a kid insists…I’d probably still have serious reservations!

Amazing stuff. A friend in the medical field said that this boy may have problems with joints & arthritis, that youngsters’ bodies aren’t developed enough yet to handle that kind of stress. I hope otherwise for this boy wonder.
I look forward to the day my girls want to come to the gym with me & workout. But I won’t allow it til they’re at least 14-15.

Wow…that is amazing. not sure i would push weights this early just for GP but if i were rasing Tiger Woods or the Williams sisters i would think weights would be part of their training. My daughter is required to have so many hours of weight training as a soccer player and swimmer.

Little Hercules definitely had a messed up family. His dad gave him "special protein shakes"…no one knows what was in them….poor kid, but he was amazing.

WOW..that’s amazing…I’m all about using your own bodyweight for children. Not too sure about incorporating "bulk" at that young of an age. Think about children in the past who had to help lift things on the farm….LOL It’s never too early to teach your children about fitness…as long as it’s balanced. I’m keying in on the importance of being limber with my kiddos at this age, and we do stretching before bed. It helps with their energy(since they sit in a desk all day). I want them to grow up with a love of being acive…and I think you have to start early:) Thanks for sharing!!

Hopefully nothing serious comes out of it but its amazing to see this kid giving grown men a run for their money. Seriously hope he doesn’t grow to hate bodybuilding. We see these stories all the time when parents push kids into all kinds of sports and by the time they are teens they don’t want to look at a ball or weight of any kind

I’ve read several articles in the past about bone development in very young athletes. Old school thought was that it was harmful and put to much stress on bones which were trying to move into their adult positions. Modern science seems to have disproven that theory and states there are no significant long term effects. I forget the exact medical mumbo-jumbo but that was the thrust of a few articles…..

Whatever happen to just going outside and playing football? I sure as hell didn’t think about lifting weights. Maybe some pushups.
