Home is where the heart is…. it shouldn’t be broken there
Don’t watch reality tv at all but since "The Biggest Loser" identifies with all of us, I watch it. Last night’s episode, the blue team won the challenge and won a week back home but after looking at the options they gave the week home to the black team. Long story short, the black team had to deal with the temptations of home, unhealthy foods eaten by family members while they had to stick to their program in the midst of it all. Of course this is something that we all deal with everyday. The one difference is that their families stood behind them although some of them were eating things that the contestants. Why do our families think it’s so strange that we are choosing to live this way? Are they ignorant to the fact that this is not some stupid obsession, but a way to live and be healthy and happy for the benefit of them? My family really doesn’t know the reason i eat certain foods I eat but they really know that they don’t have a say over how i choose to live so it’s neither here or there with them. I just hope they learn that they will have to adjust their diet and activity habits if they want to avoid trips to the doctor every other month. In the meantime I will continue to work hard and inspire others to do the same.

Sadly a lot of people look to food for comfort and don’t care or take the time to see what they are putting in their body. I get comments from family telling me they admire the way I eat and keep myself in shape and they don’t actively try to sabotage what I am doing. On the other end of the spectrum my coworkers couldn’t care less if I stick to my diet. A constant barrage of cakes, cookies and doughnuts are being shoved in my face. Also hearing things like just eat one or two it won’t hurt. There are stumbling blocks everywhere you turn and the only person that can overcome those obstacles is you and you alone, so props to the blue team in seeing that family will be there when the show is over but this chance they have to get their life back under control could be gone tomorrow.

Amen to all the above. I will just never understand some people. But way to represent! Trust me, when they do hit that point where the HAVE to do something, they will come to you for advice/help. Hopefully THEN the light bulb will turn on and they will see what they have been missing. It’s just sad it has to come to that for some people.

was presently surprised that of all people aware of my “transformation” my Mom was the most excited. when i asked her why she replied "i can’t tell you the last time i saw you smile" in an instant all the naysayers thoughts were erased. So when I’m questioned by others who tilt their heads with one eyebrow raised I respond “it delights my Mom who loves to see me smile”

great blog Wayne! It’s always been crazy to me how those who are close to us and know us well can clearly SEE the benefits of our healthier eating/exercise habits yet refuse to follow our example…
renew1…aww that is the sweetest thing I have heard in a long time…it made me smile too

WayneWorld, great post. An article I read gave a great list on why people naysay and try to shove food in your mouth- it really bolstered me. I know what you are saying, great post!
