The art of negotiation
Yesterday I went to Gold’s to look around and I of course was gonna need a tour. I had already made up my mind that i was gonna join. The guy that was there took me around and showed me all of the good stuff that i already knew that was there. Here is where it gets good. I was gonna join but i wanted to see just how much i can get from the guy. Most of us when we just want to check a gym out, the managers will ask you to come into his office and then try to force you into signing a contract even though you tell them, sometimes emphatically, that you aren’t interested at the time. Well i let him hang himself with his own rope. I told him, "well you know i just got into town and just want to check some other gyms out" to which he replied, "well they offer this much a month" and then i said "well liek i said it may be a while because i’m getting moved in". He come back with one of my favorite lines, "well are you gonna wait that long before you work out again?" as if he cared anything about me working out before i walked in. LMAO! Then my prowess came in. I said "bro even if i wanted to join today, i can’t afford the enrollment fee, I just don’t have the money. This is how you know how bad these people want to get you to join. He went to his boss and came back and said " Ok this is what we will do, how about I wave the $85 enrollment fee and you just pay the monthly fee of $20 to start. I replied, where is the paperwork? I used this guys aggression against him to pay 1/5 of what i had to pay. AM i a genius or what? I love making deals…I should be a businessman HAHA!

Well it felt good to turn the tables on the guy. Once you learn they will do anything to get you in, use it to your advantage

That’s awesome. I’m planning on switching gyms soon, and I’m going to try that same tactic.
