No Saturdays off for me.

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Do you take Saturdays off from training? Why. I love getting up early on Saturday morning so i can get to the gym and get my circuit training in. I don’t use it as a day off from work as an excuse to stay at home. My split is Mon-Tue, Wed off, Thu-Fri-Sat, Sun off. 5 days of awesome training to keep me fresh and I also don’t feel so sluggish and want to fight off the urge to be lazy on Monday morning. So stop making excuses for taking Saturday off. Get in that gym!!

What wil you do today to make yourself proud?

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

The other night I was thinking about how hard I’ve been working in the gym and on my running and without being self-absorbed at all I just thought of how proud i was of myself for just making the effort to do something I used to cringe at doing or put off doing. I never realized how much my body needed for me to make a change in my lifestyle. All it took was that little step. Now i try to end my day by thinking of something I did to make myself proud, not so much to give myself a pat on the back but for the fact that because i did something positive, someone may have have the inspiration to change themselves. Yesterday a 14 year old kid who really was just coming to the gym to hang out while his older sister worked out asked me if i played football in high school. He told me that he really didn’t know if he was motivated to make it through all four years of high school. A simple Q & A session with a young kid led to a positive decision about his young life. What if i blew the kid off like a lot of guys in my gym do to other kids?…who knows what kind of decision would the kid had made? Positive….negative? Thankfullly it was a positive one. He plans on coming to the gym everyday now to do a summer training program and he plans to play freshman football this fall. I’m proud of that. So it doesn’t neccessarily have to be about training, it could be about something else. What will you do to make yourself proud? Set a new personal 1RM? Buy a homeless guy lunch? Go to the local rec department and volunteer to work with kids? What will you do? I challenge you to go do something that makes you feel good about yourself.

Pre-workout drinks!

I’m about to take the plunge. The no sugar no bread diet is at the phase where i need some serious energy now. So i’m now looking at what works best. I’m a huge, huge Muscletech guy so of course I looked at NaNOVapor. But I also heard that N.O. Explode is bad a$$. I need something that is gonna not just give me energy but will also have me pushing all my sets to failure. And will i really get these Skin-breaking, Muscle-tearing, vein-popping pumps as I listen to the hard-core beats of Micheal Bolton? If you are using these let me know what works for you?

A minor rant, nothing huge.

I just want to say that when someone leaves you a compliment on your page….I want to think just a simple thank you would not kill you. I know that so many people get bombarded by guys sending them obnoxiuos and obscene comments and you don’t like dealing with that, I get that. And i also get that you get bombarded with a ton of comments so you can’t possibly get to all of them in a certain amount of time. But I believe you can distinguish between something nice and something vulgar. Also some people just simply think they are on here to be worshipped(Top 6) and don’t reply to anything. Once again if you are on my friend’s list and you can’t even say thanks to a compliment, then kindly just delete me off of your friends list. You should note that in my stalking list is a very low number, because i’m not here simply to be in your fan club. Trust me you aren’t that special. I really love how someof you decided to visit people when a special promotion comes up and you want votes. I got news for you, if you ignore me now, you better ignore me then So a simple gesture of thanks is not too much to ask.

Swimming should be the new cardio.

Monday, June 8th, 2009

I took my neice and nephews to the Y this weekend to take in a few laps. I hadn’t been swimming in a long time but man what i rush i got. I was sore all day that next day. I had forgotten what a great workout you get from swimming particularly from end to end in an olympic sized pool. If i did that every day i wouldn’t need to do any kind of cardio. The kids had a great time so we may do that a little more often. I barely made it through the workout this morning but i did it is all that counts. I guess I’ll add that to the rest of my new things to do in my fitness quest. This is why kids should learn this stuff at an early age. I needed a serious oxygen tank at the end of the day.

Recipe of the week: Maple Salmon

Friday, June 5th, 2009
I downloaded this yesterday and made it last night. Good stuff
Ingredients
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pound salmon
Directions
1. In a small bowl, mix the maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic, garlic salt, and pepper.
2. Place salmon in a shallow glass baking dish, and coat with the maple syrup mixture. Cover the dish, and marinate salmon in the refrigerator 30 minutes, turning once.
3. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
4. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven, and bake salmon uncovered 20 minutes, or until easily flaked with a fork.

Swimsuit Issues and I’m not talking about Magazines.

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Tuesday when I was at the gym, I had just walked in, and keep in mind that this is the day after I had to focus past all the hotties walking around in boy shorts, so i should have saw this coming. As I walked in, I immediately heard the music player playing Elto John, but it wasn’t all bad. It was "Bennie and the Jets" so i was digging it. What a great song! but anyway, I was asked by the gym owner’s wife to tell me what I thought of this. And about six ladies walked out in their competition outfits. I didn’t realize that all of a sudden I was on an episode of " Project Runway: Bodybuilding Edition". When the ladies asked what i thought I said the one thing I always say. Keeping in with the honest person that i am I said "they look great!! Now come on guys I am a very honest guy but at the same time i’m not trying to add myself to the list of Spike TV’s 1000 ways to die". Moral of the story, never tell a female bodybuilder you don’y like what she is wearing, even if you don’t like it. The life you save may be your own. Well off to blast some shoulders and back. Its raining today so its on the treadmill for me today.

WOW and to think i use to despise these chicks

Yes the token black spice girl…lol All i cared about when these girls were popular was seeing them go away. But now i see that Scary has taken up bodybuilding and that six pack is awesome. Scary no more i guess. Now i’d love to see she a Posh in a photo shoot. Ok guys Posh is the one who married soccer god David Beckham..well nevermind

Day 1 overview of two-a-days

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Well after day one it was a pretty good pump. I hit chest and biceps for the morning workout and did 10-100 yd strides and 10 box jumps for the afternoon workout. I woke up feeling good and now that it is officially HOT in Florida, i got my running in this morning before sunrise. I did 10-40 yd sprints and then did a 1 mile jog/walk routine. Later today i hit the Triceps and legs in the gym. Should turn out pretty good. I feel energized and pumped. the next 30 days should reveal some awesome changes. Hopefully i can keep my focus as i start to se more and more women walk into the gym wearing boy shorts now….do you girls realize what you are doing to our concentration levels with those things? Anyway, the diet is a little challenging right now but i’m gonna hang in there in spite of my mom trying to tempt me with her homemade buttermilk biscuits and syrup when i visit her on weekends. I can’t seem to convince her that its seven weeks out from the fitness championships in ATL and i want to be ready. Not that i’m competing but i just want to look good for all my lady pals up there LOL. Well i’m off to myself a great breakfast of protien pancakes.

Two-a-Days

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Today starts my first day of two-a-days. I do workouts in the gym during one part of the day and then do cardio work outside during the second part of the day. Haven’t been this excited about two a days since, well never. I loved playing high school football but i hated two a days. Well unless we were at a college campus for football camps. I don’t know why we liked being on college campuses so much. It may have something to do with the college co-eds that we thought we were impressing. Oh well got chest and biceps in this morning and later today, stadiums and sprints. I’ll let you guys know how it goes tommorow. Happy Monday
