I know this isn’t about training but i have to write this
Yesterday we lost a tremendous Icon in American pop culture. Whether you loved him, hated him or were indifferent about him, no one can argue that Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer the world had ever seen (with apologies to Elvis and Beatle fans). At one time i tried to emulate all of his dance moves but stopped after nearly snapping my ankles a couple of times. In any case, i know this had nothing to do with bodybuilding or training but i just thought I’d list my Top 10 MJ songs that i’d work out to if i absolutely had to.
10. Beat it
9. Wanna Be Starting Something
8. Jam
7. PYT Pretty Young Thing
6. Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough
5. State of Shock
4. Smooth Criminal
3. Dirty Diana…Its as close to a rock song as he could get
2. Billie Jean
1. Thriller….What else would I put there?

I was in college when his 2 big albums (yes, ALBUMS) came out. Off The Wall & Thriller. Great stuff. Too bad most people under 30 mostly know him for the weirdness. He was amazing with the J5 & first few yrs when he went solo. I’ll choose to remember him from the late 60’s to early-mid 80’s.

Back in the day………the entire Thriller music video on MTV or VH1. Very cool. That man could move!

I hate to say it but I think Billy Jean was my fav video. When he’s dancing on the sidwalk and each square is lighting up as he steps on it… pricless! Smooth criminal was good too!

I was in 3rd grade when Thriller came out. Best.Record.Ever.
I still listen to it sometimes. The world lost a true genius yesterday.

Bad was a good record too but "the way you make me feel" was probably my favorite off of that CD. And yes AL, I remember when they still were called albums too. I think his best work was with his brothers in the early years

I’m w/ you Wayne. 2 of my 1st albums in late 60’s/early 70’s were J5. Man I still love J5 music. I remember ‘Ben’. Weird movie, good song.

I remember in the movie about their life how Michael hid a rat from his father to keep him from killing it. So now the song Ben makes sense.

I think I also have t mention Farrah Fawcett should not be overlooked either. I had that famous poster and I was only 10 at the time. She was a beauty. She also had issues with a junkie son and some stormy relationships, but she still was everyone’s favorite Angel

I feel bad for Farrah actually. I’m not saying she wasn’t big but Michael was bigger. And she’s been fighting for her life for years now. *sigh*
Did MJ ever make a bad song?? I don’t know if I could do a top 10. Check my blog for my fave though.
