Use detractors and haters as motivation
Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about people being hated on because of their decision to do something about their health. We all have them, the people at work who make snide comments and give hateful looks(mostly women) and the people that always say they have better things to do with their time or say that they will leave that to the young guys. The point is these people don’t have the motivation or the courage to do something about looking better, so when someone actually does, they hate the person that does for doing it. Notice these people constantly call in sick or leave the job early because they are sick. These people also are constantly under a lot of stress, are always pissed off about something and complain about everything under the sun. But they wonder why people like us are always in high spirits and have that extra bounce in our step. I personally have this to say to them….BITE ME!! Then I go to the gym and pour all of their disdain for me into my workouts and as I get better and stronger I flaunt it in their face even more. So my advice to you guys that encounter it…don’t get upset over it, Embrace it…Let it be your motivation to kill it when you are in the gym. You’ll feel better at the end of the day.

You hit the nail on the head. Many of my friends complain that I’m spending too much of my free time at the gym and not hanging out drinking beers. I just tell them they’re spending too much time sitting around drinking beers and not enough time at the gym. I brought one friend with a free guest pass to the gym one day (because he wouldn’t fork over the $10 guest fee) and he was sore for 4 days - which is about the longest that DOMS can last. Attention shifted to him for a while which was nice.
In general, I think that people who are out of shape hate people like us who are in shape or working hard to get in shape because they are dissatisfied with themselves and just project it outward.
Great post!

Absolutely! Those people that put you down are just hating on themselves and have to direct it elsewhere…let them keep their negativity while we all succeed!!!!

That’s a much better idea than sleeping with their wives. I’ll have to remember that.
i keed, i keed. I think it’s just a matter of sour grapes. It’s easier for them to hate than to get up off their butts and get some exercise themselves.

You are SO right! My current job I work with all women, but they are VERY supportive of me and my competing- which is VERY odd! We even went out for dinner last night and they didn’t even question my eating "quirks"…
…but I’ve certainly had plenty of the other!!!

My girl friend and I just had a conversation about these people!! I always have people coming up to me saying "You’re drinking more water? You’re eating AGAIN?" Look buddy, I don’t walk up to you and question the medium pizza you’re eating by yourself or the second litre of pepsi you’re sipping on do I? Jealousy, it’s all jealousy. Stay strong!!

Great post. Too many people sipping on the haterade that’s for sure. Everybody has an excuse for why they can’t exercise. And BB.com has someone on here who has blasted that excuse to the wind and got their fitness on. This summer I plan on giving haters something to hate on! A better body and teeshirts will all types of bodybuilding quotes LOL.
