SQUATS - *please* check if I have proper form

I’ve never done squats before but want to start. I’ve taped myself in the gym this morning, to show how I understand squat form. If you know what you’re doing, please message/comment and let me know if I’m doing them right or wrong.

PLEASE NOTE THE SIDE VIDEO. I think I arch my back incorrectly (backwards) and it isn’t straight. That looks wrong.

Please advise.

Well man I have to say from the video your form looks good and bad. This really depends on a few things. What is the weight that you are using in the video? What is your 1RM or an aproximate number? Whay kind of lifting are you doing? The reason I ask is simple. If you are lifting just for the sake of lifting and getting in shape it seems good even though your knees track really far forward putting a lot of pressure on your knees and patella tendons. If you are using about 80-85% or less of your 1RM then your form can be off a bit and you can still complete the lift fairly easy. About 90% and this is when you start encountering form issues. If things are not perfect the lift is going to suck. If you are lifting for strength purposes you may want to try sitting back a little more. The way your feet are wide and you push your knees out a bit maybe this would help. The other thig I believe everybody should try is box squatting. This is a perfect way to learn technique and get a lot stronger regardless of the width of your stance.
