It’s been a bit since the iron had touched my hands.  The calluses were beginning to fade away.  The skin no longer felt tight.  The tight midsection took the apprearance of a paunch.  Not good.

New environment, new surroundings, hit it tonight and felt good for the first time in awhile.

Rest day….or not

So after working late I made today a rest day.

And then I ate great all day, and felt great, and drank lots of water.

I had to go.  So I did 20 pullups, 100 pushups and bench press.

Just to take the edge off. 

6 miler in the morning and legs in the evening.  I WILL learn how to deadlift.

Did intervals this morning on the track…and I suddenly remembered why I loathe doing intervals.  Just did 8 x 400’s instead of ten because my legs felt like rubbery chicken.

Had a good breakfast, felt great all morning, went to the gym and then BAM I got smoked pretty darn bad doing a simple upper body workout.  Not cool at all.

But I’ve eaten well throughout the day and I’m feeling good so onto tomorrow….leg lift, no cardio

Life is good and I feel great.  My new running shoes should be here in about 3 weeks so that will be a blessing.  These Brooks shoes have served me well, but they are way past due.  I was impressed with how well they’ve held up to the rocks and gravel and dirt here. 

Just did 3 miles today.  There is a 5k on Valentine’s Day, followed by a Half-Marathon St Patricks Day weekend and finally a Marathon in May. 

I’ll be doing intervals (10 x 400’s) tomorrow morning and then doing a total body workout tomorrow and Thursday.  I’ll try and change it up between the two, but not by much.
