Well my DVD’s arrived on Monday and I started yesterday. I didn’t want to wait till next Monday because I’ve read lots of blogs where people never end up starting. I did the Chest/Back and Abs ripper. I used the bands instead of the chin-up bar; first, because I haven’t attached the bar to my wall, secondly, I can only do one pull-up - so bands will be fine for now until my strength increases.
It was a great workout - the Dive bombers and decline push-ups were KILLER. OK - so now that I am writing the day after, my back is sore but my chest isn’t. I find this really weird because in my training programs before the P90X, I NEVER worked out my chest and ALWAYS worked my back very hard. This is because I have naturally tight pec muscles that would always pull my shoulders forward and I did not want to exasperate the problem. Maybe tomorrow I will feel it.
I can’t forget to post my day 1 pics – I promised myself I would get them up sooner than later.
Stay Gold peeps!

I am waiting…patiently waiting for my P90x dvds to arrive. Why the P90X you ask? Well I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to bring some intensity and structure to my workouts. Fact is I’m BORED when I go to the gym by myself. I am also hoping the P90X will force me to do some cardio (which I always mysteriously seem to forget to do while at the gym) I’m also looking to get "functionally" fit - not just look fit. Since I don’t really have a weight issue, it should interesting to see how much mass I will put on with this program. I just have to remember to eat, eat, eat to make-up for the cardio. I will be posting the current before pictures shortly and ones for the 30, 60 and 90 day marks.
Wish me luck peeps!

What is a cankle you ask? Well let me tell you – it’s really a genetic nightmare. A cankle is where your ankle should be, unfortunately your calf does not know this and takes over. Basically, a cankle = thick ankles. Some women have delicate ankles like a racehorse, I on the other hand, am a Clydesdale. The frustrating thing is there is not much I can do about it. But all is not lost - I do have a plan of attack! Make my calves bigger so that my cankles APPEAR smaller. Take that cankles!!! Victoria - 1, cankles - 0.

I have been trying to encourage my boyfriend to start a profile on BodySpace, as he is looking to get healthy this year. I thought all these nifty programs to track progress would be useful for him, so he relented and joined yesterday. I just added him as a friend and now I am currently stalking my own boyfriend. I repeat, I AM STALKING MY OWN BOYFRIEND. It just feels weird.

I am super excited to start week 5 of my HST program. Prior to starting HST, I had been training each body part separately, yielding OK results. At first, I was skeptical about doing a full body routine, but I love the way my body is responding; it feels tighter and ready to respond to whatever punishment I send its way. I also noticed that my ligaments didn’t get sore with this training routine; I suppose its due to first month of doing 15 and 10 reps, which in theory is supposed to condition my ligaments for the heavy lifting during the 5 rep phase. Only time will tell if this program works for me, but what matters the most is that I am liking the journey getting there.
